Dryer turns on but wont spin

Hi,

When I choose a cycle and press the start button, the dryer makes the usual click noise. After that though, it beeps a few times and doesn't start the cycle.

I started it and left it on, it goes through the sensing steps of the cycle but it does not spin. I have already checked the belts and they are intact.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

thank you,

You will need a volt Volt-Ohm (VOM) reader to fix this problem.
This doesn't rquire sound technical knowledge for this but you should be good at following some instructions.
This could be the effect of a number of problems. Here's a list of things to check and details on how to do it.

  • Fuse could be bad -- Check the fuse for a break inside. If it’s bad, replace it with an identical fuse.
  • Temperature switch could be bad -- Use VOM to check the switch. Set VOM to RX1, remove leads and touch the probes to the switch's terminals. The reading should be zero or infinity. Turn the switch, and the reading should change from zero to infinity or infinity to zero. If not, the switch is bad.
  • Thermostat could be bad -- Set the VOM to RX1, take a lead off one of the two outside terminals and press the probes to the two outside terminals. There should be a reading of zero. If not, it's bad.
  • Heating coils may be bad -- Set the VOM to RX1 and remove the leads from the coil. Press the probes to the terminals. If the reading is zero, the coil is bad.
  • Timer could be bad -- Disconnect the leads from the motor. Set the VOM to RX100. Clip the probes onto the leads. If the reading is infinity, the timer motor is bad.

SOURCE: Duet Dryer will not start, Press control on, Start, then it beeps

try tripping your circet breakers dont assume that just because it lights up both lines are working you can have a partial tripped breaker and just be getting 110 to the drier its easy enough to just go ahead and reset the breakere if that dont work get back to me

SOURCE: Whirlpool duet dryer will no start...the "sensing" light comes on when you hit start; it makes the click noise in the door when you hit start, it counts down, but it does not tumble or anything

you have a blown thermal fuse. you can get one where they have parts it is about 5 dollars.

SOURCE: Dryer won't start cycle. Sensing light turns on and it beeps then

Unplug the unit and take the back off. Down towards the bottom, near the exhaust connection, you will find a small, white thin plastic part with 2 blue wires connected to it. Remove the wires, put them together, wrap with electrical tape, and then plug the dryer in and see if it runs then

Drum knock when spin cycle

Hello.
Noises are common when using a two-in-one washer and dryer, as clicking or whirring is part of the cleaning process during the transition to the next cleaning process. The GE Spacesaver washer and dryer combo uses a top-loading washer stacked beneath the front-loading dryer, and uses an agitator that makes noises throughout the spin cycle. Although whirring or clicking is normal, other noises or malfunction indicates a problem with the washer that requires minor troubleshooting. Professional repair is necessary if the washer continues to experience problems during the spin cycle, as there may be a problem with the washer's agitator.
1 Open the washer's door and check the balance of the load's clothes. Clothes that are unevenly distributed around the agitator cause excessive shaking and result in an imbalance during the spin cycle. Reduce the load's size by removing clothing if the washer's drum is overloaded.
2 Push "Start/Pause" to pause the spin cycle and turn the washer's cycle knob to the "Off" position. Turn the knob to "Spin Only" and press "Start/Pause" to reset the cycle.
3 Turn the wrench counterclockwise or clockwise around the unit's legs to adjust the appliance's balance. The legs are adjustable with the help of a wrench to ensure the unit does not shake while in use. An unleveled unit shakes as it spins, and causes excessive squealing or rattling as it attempts to dry the clothes.
4 Touch "Start/Pause" on the front of the washer's control panel and unplug the washer/dryer unit's power cord from the electric oultlet. Wait two minutes and plug the power cord back into the electric outlet. Push "Start/Pause" to resume the spin cycle.
Thanks.
