It's a Kenmore Coldspot that was manufactured in 1998. There's a tube that gets plugged, water freezes underneath the shelf in the freezer and water starts dripping down into the main chamber. I cannot remember where the tube is or how the repairman got to it.

The tube is located in the bottom of the freezer compartment under the coils. To access it, remove the back panel and then the floor of the freezer. Remove all of the ice. Melt the ice that is clogging your drain tube. You should see the drain tube somewhere along the bottom of the back wall. I use my wife's hair dryer or hot water when I do this to my refrigerator.

My Kenmore coldspot 71182100 which is almost 9 years old just started leaking water from the freezer onto the shelves in the fridge. I just cleaned out the freezer and got the ice out. There was not...

I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model #69207990 and have the same problem. Water from the freezer drains into the refridgerator onto the shelves and sheets of ice form. A repairman pointed out that the tube leading down from the freezer onto the drain pan was frozen. By pouring hot water down the tube, he reopened this drain line. Problem solved for six months and the drain line froze again. My question is how to stop this drain line from freezing up again.

Kenmore colspot freezer drain line keeps freezing

Hi, The defrost drain behind the rear freezer panel is plugged. Remove the rear panel and clear the ice away from the drain. Then you will need to flush the drain hole with hot water to make sure it is open.
Some models require an after market drain heat kit.
Please get me your model # and I can look this up to let you know if you need that heat kit.

Thanks

Hot to touch

there is another fan at the bottom, rear, of the refigerator. remove the bootom panel and look at the cooling fins to make sure they are not bent into the fan blades. Caefully bend the fins away from the fan. this should improve the cooling of the refrigerator and get rid of the hot spot on the rail between the refrigerator and freezer.

Upright freezer. Two shelves freeze up. One doesn't. Why and is this a problem

look to see if the shelves are in fact not shelves but evaporator coils . if the shelf is connected to small tubing, then that tubing flows freon that freezes the shelf. if its clearly not connect to any tubing or piping then its just a shelf and gets residual cold from evaporator shelves. if it is connected to tubing like the others and not getting cold then you have whats called a restriction. . particles have plugged the tubing and no freon is feeding the shelf. if that is happening then consider having a pro recover the gas , unplug the tubing , replace the drier and recharge it. if its an older unit and you are getting by then maybe not worth the expense.

Refrigerator condensation

I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model 70262990. When I get wet shelves (water, not just condensation), I was able to trace my source to the cold air vent from the freezer. In my case, the water melts from the evaporator and collects in the rear lower section of the freezer. It is "supposed" to go down the drain tube. However I had the drain hole freeze over. Then additional water from the defrost cycle would accumulate in the freezer floor (under the plastic floor) and eventually find its way down the cold air vent between the freezer and refrigerator section. You'll need to unplug the unit, take the plastic floor out of the freezer, remove the evaporator panel to access the defrost drain, melt the frozen water (hair drier works nice), and remove all the water (towel/sponge & bucket). Make sure the drain is not frozen and not blocked. Then put it back together and plug it in.

Does anyone know how to stop the drain tube from freezing over?

Good luck.
