Cobra radar detector speaker replacement

I need a replacement speaker (8 ohm, 0.8 watt) for a Cobra Mod. XRS 757 radar detector.

    I have the same problem. I've had this thing for almost a yaer now and the speaker is screwed up. You can still hear it but it sounds terrible, like the speaker is blown. I want to know what it will cost me to fix it and how long would it take.

I called cobra support(777-889-3087) and it was around $6 plus shipping for a replacement speaker.
the correct phone number for cobra support is 773-889-3087 and can be found on their website.
Cobra was very courtious and I also got my replacement speaker for my XRS-9500.!

I contacted Cobra via internet site and ordered the speaker. However, it has been on order for over 6 weeks and still not here. I would have figured this would be a relatively high failure item and would be stocked. Thanks for the response. ohmhead

call cobra at 773 889 3087 you can purchase a new speaker for a few dollars it is very simple to install remove four screw on bottom of detector pop out the actual board and unplug the speaker and simply plug in the new one but be careful when taking apart the detector it is all plastic and there are clips that can be easily broken .

Cant find a replacement fuse for the power cord
the fuse is located in the cigarette lighter plug, at the end you will see a silver cap and then the disk that goes over the top of it, that will turn and then you will have the front open to replace the glass fuse that is in it... to find the fuse size, after the fuse is out look at the silver ends it will have the size stamped on it... it might be a 40 amp fuse. or 20 amp. just look at the silver sides on the fuse you will find that there... hope this helps you out

Most likely the speaker simply blew due to excessive heat. This is a fairly common problem with all makes and models of radar detectors. Contact Cobra. They should either be able to send you a replacement speaker which you can install yourself, or they should issue you a RMA so that you can send in your Cobra for service.

Cobra xrs757 X Band
The x-band is the considered a "trash band". It picks up things like automatic doors at supermarkets and such. About every radar detector made has an X band for non-police radar. There is no way to turn this band off on the XRS-757.

Holding down the dim button for 2 seconds turns the V alert on/off
Holding down the city button for 2 seconds turns the Spectra on/off
Holding both city and dim together for 2 seconds turns K and Ku band on/off.

The Cobra XRS-757 is the same as the Cobra XRS-9330. The difference in model number is due to the 757 being sold at Wal-Mart stores.

There are 2 options for power plugs that can be purchased from Cobra for the 757. The straight 12V power cord is listed under item number: 420-030-N-001 and the coiled 12V power cord is listed under item number: 420-026-N-001. The best way is to call up cobra or ask them a question through their site.
