Recently my water dispenser black particles with my water. I replaced the water value and that did not work. Someone mentioned that it might be algae in the water reservoir. Any ideas. Model #SXD22S2W
Could be carbon particles from a broken carbon filter cartridge. replace the filter and flush about 5 gallons of water before checking the water again that comes out of the dispenser.

you have a kink in your tubing test by checking at pump which is visable by taking back felt cover at bottom where water tube goes in cut a few inches away from pump to see if water flows when you activate swich if so you have a kink in your system to repair the cut they have couplings in the store
You could have an issue with one of the following:
* water valve assembly's water dispenser solenoid (located in the lower rear of the refrigerator). If this is the problem, you must replace the entire water valve assembly.
With out knowing your model of Amana it will be harder to locate the problem. It is rare that both water control valves would stop working at the same time unless you had a crimp or a line blockage feeding water to the refrigerator. First I recommend you turn the water supply off to the rear. Second I want you to disconnect the water feed to the water control valve on the rear near base and lean the line into a bucket so you can have the supply line turned back on just to make sure there is no blockage or crimp in the feed line. Third if you have a self piercing tap valve to supply the water that may be the problem because the hole is small and easy to collect rust or other normal particles in the line. Next you need to check the voltage at the water control valve side for the dispenser. Have someone press dispense water while a voltage meter is connected to the dispenser side female plug. And last of all the door switch may be the only problem. It is designed that when the door is open the dispenser panel is off. If when shut the switch does not make a connection, the dispenser pane, ice maker and auger motor are turned off. Let me know what you find, Sea Breeze
The filter you installed was empty, You will need to purge the air from the system. Simply hold a glass in the dispenser with water selected until water flows.

I lowered the temp on the freezer to 4 overnight, by morning water dispenser is working fine. I think that when we changed the temp to 7 (in order to make more ice ) it froze the water pipe going to the dispenser. I am going to keep both fridge and freezer at 5 ,and hope this will not happen again.
Most side-by-sides have a length of hose at the bottom of the freezer that send the water to the ice maker and water dispenser. take the back off so you can see this hose, there may be a kink in it, or a clog.
Where do I locate the carbon filter?
