My washer goes through the cycle but the cold

My washer goes through the cycle and when it is done the cold water will keep on filling even when it stops. this causes the tub to fill and water over flows and goes all over. This even occurs during the washer cycle as the cold water will continuely run.
thanks

This sounds like your water fill valve is bad and will need to be replaced.

I load washer it starts the wash cycle it goes through wash cycle fine drains water but does not collect water for rinse cycle it just idles. So I turn knob to spin and it spins until done.

If it doesn't fill for the rinse, I would say that the cold inlet valve has failed. Check that the cold tap is turned on and check when the machine fills for the wash cycle and see if it is taking hot or cold water. You will probably find that it is filling only with hot water. A local spares store should have the valve you need.

Cold water won't stop before rinse cycle

if it fails to stop running only at the rinse part of the cycle it is probably in the timer as the solenoid valve has to cut the water off when the washer fills for the wash cycle too. fills for wash cycle and cuts off water, washes and drains, refills for rinse cycle and water just keeps running? does this every time you run it? that's in the timer. bad solenoid (water inlet valve) would keep running even on wash fill up. hope this helps.

Why does water keep filling when cycle should be done?

You need to clarify EITHER Cold or Hot water. Usually it's the Cold water relay switch is "Stuck". You can remove the top of the washer (Un-Plug the dam thing first). Facing the washer like you normally do, Look to the mid-left, back of the washer. There are Two VALVES (COLD-COMPLEX AND HOT-SIMPLE). These are solenoids which are just a magnet that goes up and down when powered. You can "gently" tap each one with the handle of a screw driver. I herd that this works (It doesn't) so replace the Cold Water Valve (Expensive) about $40 +/- $10. The Easy one (Hot water) is only $12 and has one solenoid. Of course if One fails, the Other one is just waiting for you to complete THAT job to fail a week, month, or 10 minutes later. So do them both, throw them away, and then your water will fill as IT IS SUPPOSE TOO!

The washer only fills halfway up during rinse cycle only, even on high water setting. it fill completely during the wash cycle.

Has it always done this or just recently? Some washers have lower rinse fills then spray the water on the clothes as it goes through its cycle.

Washer wont fill up during rinse cycle

all rinse cycles are filled with cold water to keep the clothes from wrinkling.set up the washer to run with just cold water.start it,if no water comes into washer, shut down your house water valve that fills the washer, take off the cold water hose, stick it in the washer or if there's a sink or where ever and turn on the water,if water comes out of the hose then you need a new water valve on the washer

When washer fills up it only fill with hot water. the cold water do not even run in machine. Then when it goes to the rinse cycle water is not filling up in machine. It comes out just alittle bit. is there...

The cold water solenoid valve or the controller is defective. It is more likely that the valve is defective. Of course, check to make sure that the cold water feed is turned on.

Washer won't wash

Hi!
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:
It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Hotpoint washer Won't rinse

your cold water valve will be your problem or you've turned the water supply off, if the supply is not off put the machine on to the final rinse if it fills it will be the main rinse valve gone. The cold water valve is a double one with 2 solaniods. Unplug the machine turn water supply off remove fill hose there are 2 screws keeping the top on, remove them lift the lid off.undo the screws that keep the valve on, take note wiring and remove pull the black hoses off, replace with new one. The resistance of the valve will be around 3.4 kohms
