Unable to connect iPod to WiFi router

Router is Netgear MR814v2
iPod is new Touch 64
It "sees" a signal from router (3 bars) but says "Unable to connect to Router - Dismiss"
I have attempted to enter IP address, Subnet Mask address, plus a lot of other information I don't know much about. No help.
Any suggestions?

I have exact same problem and the exact same router.

  • Anonymous Aug 14, 2011

I first tried resetting my network settings on my iPod which is a 16gb on 4.2.1. That did not work. I then tried doing a reset on the router itself (pressing the small onset button behind the metal casing mesh). That did not work. I then tried accessing the router settings (the 192.168....etc into the browser). I have changed the settings in a plethora of ways to no avail. I have tried to change the MAC address on it. I have tried to even manually submit the individual MAC addresses to all my iPods into the media acces points etc. My iPods can "see" the connection and the SSid is all there, I have no password enabled. My first gen iPod which is jailbroken to 3.1.3 connects EVERY single time regardless of how the settings are tweaked, it sees the SSid and connects without fail. But my two newer iPods will not connect to my Netgear router. Any help would be appreciated.

I cannot connect my ipod touch to my router how do i connect it?

First you'll need to turn on your Wi-Fi.

1. Choose (Settings) then (WiFi) then (turn WiFi on)
2. Set iPod touch to ask if you want to join a new network: Choose (WiFi) and turn (Ask to Join Networks) ON or OFF.

Then you'll need to join a WiFi network (your D-Link for instance)

1. Choose (Settings) then (WiFi) then wait until your D-Link shows up in the list of networks.
2. Select your network and if you have a password for your router make sure you type it. (networks that require a password have a lock icon next to it) then tap (join)

Once you join a WiFi network manually, iPod touch will automatically connect to it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, iPod touch joins the one last used.

When iPod touch is connected to a WiFi network, the WiFi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows the connection strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the connection.

Good Luck

I try to join my network no lock nothing it will have full bars perfect signal and yet it says 'Unable to join the network ''linksys''. word for word

Your WiFi router may be configured to not allow your iPod Touch to connect to it. This is done by specifying a list of "MAC addresses" that can connect to the router.

I have an iPod Touch and I have been trying hopelssly to connect to the wifi. I have a BT Voyager 2110 router. I have been putting in the right password and it even says I am connected as it has a tick...

Well... since you said PLEASE help!

So what is the IP Address that the iPod Touch gets? Does it match with what range the BT gives out?

Does anything else connect through that router successfully?

You might try changing the WEP, WPA, WPA2 that you are using ... see if that helps the iPod touch to connect. I've seen where certain computers, etc. do not like WPA or WPA2 or certain passwords or key codes.

Unable to connect to wifi network on ipod 2g touch

You must have your wireless profile's name and passkey.  Try resetting your router, then make sure you create a new profile for your desktop and take note of the details (ie name, WEP/WPA Key)  Should work just fine if you follow the steps.

Connecting Ipod touch 8(GB) to Wi-fi

netgear support software could be bad. The ipod might not be able to read signal. umm try restoring the ipod. then plug it to your computer let it recognize it and then before you add ANYTHING to it, go straight to the setting and put in the router number and everythign and see if it works. I know people hate it but restoring it usually works. Its just simple small virus's that hit your ipod through songs and stuff and it eventually makes everything stop working. So get back at me let me know if restoring it worked.
