Need to know how to adjust carburator on Tecumseh 8 HP Snow King motor on Troy Bilt Snow Blower. It keeps missing and sometimes backfires. I had to replace the cylinder head last year and have not been able to get the carburator tuned correctly since.....

Either or do one of two things if the motor runs pretty well Start the engine and run it full throttle. Once there if it has a high speed jet turn the screw in to start with until the engine stumbles a bit and then turn it back about a half turn. When you turn it in you should here the engine peak out. .If it is blowing black smoke out the exhaust it means the high speed screw is to far out so turn it in until it smooths out.If the engine smooths out then you have cured the problem. Good luck.

In order to start it with an electric cord you must have a feature called an electric starter. If you dont have the electric starter on your machine now, one can be added at a dealership

unscrew the nut on the bottom of the carburetor and remove the float bowl it must be emptied and cleaned , debree and water gets into the bowl and blocks of fuel flow reinstall the bowl and start, some carbs don't have a float bowl requiring you to remove the gas tank and carb which is a more involved cleaning.

I really hate to be the "bearer of bad tidings" but Troy Bilt, as a company, in no longer in business, MTD bought out the name and design rights for a lot of their tools but they are not manufacturing or stocking any parts for the older GardenWay/ Troy-Bilt machinees. My best suggestion would be tostart looking for a good used one or one with a blown engine, broken frame or whatever, buy it and canibalize it for spare parts

prefer air-cooled engine oil from mower dealers or some auto supply stores have air cooled engine oil.
