First, see the Sears parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=+110.26912691

You'll see part numbers and prices for oil.

When we had to tear out transmission apart (3 times) we did some research and found that basic 80-90 weight non-detergent gear oil (available much cheaper than Sears oil at most auto parts stores) works for these transmissions.

Kenmore washer model 11026912691 magnetic latch assembly

I have to assume that you mean the "Lid Switch"

See the following Sears parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.26912691

Look at the sub-component section on the top and cabinet and you should be able to see how the switch connects.

If you cannot tell from the schematic, I' d use the Whirlpool number for the switch (peobably 8054980) and go to dome of the on-line washer parts dealers for a better look. The Whirlpool parts site doesn't have pictures of their parts.

What type of oil does a Kenmore washing machine use?

I'm not sure what type of oil it uses, but the part number is 350572 and is sold in 16oz. containers. It's called gearcase transmission oil. I'm not sure of the grade or specific chemical composition, though. Appliancepartpros.com carries it for about $17.

Kenmore washer

Yes I fixed my washer problem.
The washer was stopping before it would drain and spin. I would raise the lid and then close it back and it would start back up. So we figured the lid switch was broke.

Before you do anything you "unplug" the washer!
You have to pop the ends off the back panel with the buttons on it. Then you unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom of the panel and raise it up. Then you remove the brass clips that are holding the lid on. Then you move the whole washing machine cabinet out. My husband replaced the lid switch. Then we had to figure out how to get the cabinet back on right. That took some time but we did it. Then you repeat everything you did to take it off to put it back together.

The washer is working fine now.

Kenmore wash machine will not spin

Eight years is getting kind of old. When the clutch or transmission goes out, it costs more to replace the part than to buy a new washing machine. You'd better plan a shopping trip rather than spring for that $100.
