Where is the CMOS battery?

Hi, where is the CMOS battery located?
I replaced small battery under the modem, but problem is not solved.
What is happend? Always after shutting down and turning on, evrything appears, like first turn on. Does not remember any set ups.
So I replaced small lithium 3volt battery under modem. But the problem was not solved. Now I think, mait be this was not the CMOS battery. Is this the CMOS battery?
Thanks, Marian

Disconnect the power cable from the computer and remove the battery pack from the computer.

Close the screen and turn the computer upside-down. Locate the modem/combo card compartment on the right side of the computer (adjacent to the modem/telephone and network cable ports).

  • 4 Remove the two screws on the modem/combo card compartment cover and take the cover off.
  • 5 Remove the modem/combo card from the compartment, disconnect the cables and set the card aside. The CMOS battery is now visible.
  • 6 Disconnect the CMOS battery cable from its connector and remove the battery from the compartment.
  • 7 Replace the CMOS battery, and reassemble the laptop by performing the previous steps in reverse order.

Most people will notice the cmos batter is flat when they receive an error during post just after turning the pc on. This is a warning tell you the settings were lost, replacing the battery will not put them back. After replacing the battery go into bios by pressing delete/f2/f10 as instructed by your bios, choose the 'load defaults' option, then set the time and day, then 'save and exit'

You will find the CMOS battrey under the modem. Turn laptop up side down, it is in left, lower corner. Battrey you can buy in any electrinic shop, but dont go by laptop name, go by battrey number. It cost 5.00$
    Good luck, Marian.

The CMOC battery is rechargeable, it will take time to reach full charge. It is being charged while the laptop is under charge, but may take a few hours. However, if the charging circuit is gone there is a whole other problem, a replacement of that is a bit harder. Check the main battery as well, by going into the Display Properties, screen saver and hit the power button. Run the calibration on the main battery to see how well it does. In most cases when one goes down the other is not far behind.

    Good luck,

    Derick B.

How to remove CMOS battery for A215-S7444? I done a search and got this answer: "This should help: * Remove Laptop Battery * Remove Memory Cover * Spread spring clips to outside and * pull out RAM...

What are you trying to do? Replace the CMOS battery, or reset a BIOS password?

This is what the CMOS battery looks like,

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/CMOS-RTC-Battery-Toshiba-Satellite-A210-A215-Series-/270970735656?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D15%26pmod%3D160437620636%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8748715535548215160

Now view this pictorial disassembly guide,

    Page 3 - http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/laptop-disassembly-3.htm

Go to the photo in Step 17, and click on it to enlarge.
See the CMOS battery in the middle/left?

Round silvery looking object. Go straight down from the red arrow to the far left.

That is how to access the CMOS battery.
(Yes I know it states Satellite A200/A205. Same for the A215)

    Now BIOS password reset?
Do not know where the two copper pads are to briefly short out. Suspect under the Ram Memory modules, (And under a small sheet of Mylar plastic), or under the Wireless Modem. (And under a small sheet of Mylar plastic)

The links on this solution I gave may help,

Need to replace internal clock battery

This may have been solved by now however...
REMOVE MAIN BATTERY... Before Opening any compartments!
The CMOS battery is located in the modem compartment.
Place the unit upside cown with the rear connectors facing towards you. It is the compartment on the right rear corner (i-screw to remove). It may be difficult ro open due to the modem labe sticking to the cover. Use care when attempting to pry door open.
Battery is CR1220 0.5in Diameter (Dime Size) (40mAh Rated).

    Where isw the cmos battery

it's inside the computer, it's a small round, flat, silver battery similar to those in watches and tons of other devices. It stores the clock time when the computer is shut off. You will need to take apart the laptop carefully in order to get to it. Is your clock getting reset everytime you turn it back on? Then yes you will need to replace the battery.

Hi the cmos battery on my m450c needs replacing but I do not know how to access it

Not sure on your model laptop. The battery is usually a 3volt lithium button battery approx the size of a small coin.
The battery could be located on the bottom of the laptop under one of the scewed panels to one side of the opening or it may be under the keyboard.

    Gateway 450rog cmos battery

The CMOS battery is located on the motherboard, just under the bottom left side of the keyboard, by the letter 'V". It looks like a clock battery, marked 3V (volts). The battery comes out of its "cage/connector" by gently lifting it with a small flat screwdriver. Replacement CMOS batteries are inexpensive and readily available at any computer shop. Hope that helps

You have to take the case apart and find the old battery. It sounds like a large tast but you can pull it of in about 20 min.locate all the screws on the underside of the keyboard part of the laptop remove the main battery as ther may be a screw or 2 in the battery case once you are sure that you have removed all of the screws try seperating the 2 parts of the case sometimes they have clips that snap both parts together you can loosen then with a flathead if you find them by pressing inward and releasing them.once you have opened the case locate the battery and replace it .YOU CAN DO IT!
