I have a TDC power ptst-30012 garden light transformer. input - 120 VAC and output 12 vac. It stop working. Using multimeter, I narrow the problem the solenoid gets power and nothing is coming out. But it gets hot temperature. Is it bad?

I take it that this is a standard power supply out of a PC (switch mode)
These are a common connection point on any brand PC
Use a DC Voltmeter to find the Ground, +5 Volt & +12 volt wires to power your 3.5 inch Hard Drive. The 2.5" Hard Drives (laptop) has only Ground (Black) & +5 Volt.
Transformer TestProcedure:1). Make sure that transformer wireconnections (CON1) to the drive board are secured. Turn unit on.2). Put multimeter to the AC voltage setting. Insert meter probes into the transformer primary (red)wires as shown. Normal reading: 110V. This shows that there is power to the transformer.3). Test transformer output by probing on secondary (output) wires: black and black, white and white,orange and orange, yellow and yellow
Transformer Test Results :1). If there is no voltage across the primary (red) wires, inspect F1 fuse on the drive board and power to the drive board. 2). If there is voltage across primary wires but none across secondary wires, the transformer is bad.Replace it.

If you have the skill to determine the transformer input is open, I would expect you have the skill to replace a transformer. Based on this assumption: determine the input voltage (120 vac?), determine the output voltage (14 vac?), determine the power requirements (output voltage times the charging current), find a transformer at www.digikey.com or www.mouser.com or www.newark.com.
Hi, to isolate the faulty transformer, one need to obtain a Multimeter and set it to Volts AC, then going to the Output of each transformer & see if there is the required 12V there. The one that's NOT providing an output is the faulty one.
In these setups you are correct there is little else it can be. However check at the connections to the lights also, see if there is Voltage there too.
A transformer will have the 120 V AC on the Primary, INPUT side, and 12 V AC on the Secondary OUTPUT side.
Try testing right on the transformers terminals. Also remove the "Load" too when making measurements as if there is a short etc, then that may give a false reading. Always measure Voltages first with NO load, then test again with the Load, they should both be the same, if NOT then you have a fault NOT in the transformer but elsewhere in the circuit.
