T stat wiring in air handler
Hi, normally they don' t have 2-toned striped wires in a thermostat cable. They must have used some other 18 gauge wire. If this is a gas fired indoor unit, the wires are Red to R, Yellow to Y, G to to green, and white to W. If its a heat-pump, no gas, you will have Red to R, W to W-1 if you have heat strips for second stage heat, G to fan, green, B is blue for the reversing valve, 0 will not be used on a Ruud. You may need to go to the control panel on the outdoor unit to see how they have wired the condenser, as you never no what colors they have picked to use, what ever suits them. You may have a black or brown for common if used, or for emergency heat. Gas air handlers are much easier to wire at the stat then a heat pump, so you will need to check what they used at the outdoor unit. They didn't use regular stat wire as it does not have stripes on it.Please do this and draw your self a diagram so you will know. Most all heat-pumps wire differently, at the stat depending on the kind, and at the condenser. I hope I have been of help to you on this as it is important to get it right, and it sound as tough you are familar with wiring. Please rate me on this and be kind as I know you will. Please keep me posted on the outcome or if you need more help.
Sincerely,

PS You may not need any of the striped wires as all wires are not used. You will need to look at the outdoor and indoor control board.
