You will need to have a VCR with a cable connection on it. You will need to remove the cable connection(if connected) on the TV and connect it to the "cable in" connection on the VCR. Then the coaxiel cable will connect from the "cable out" connection to the cable connection on the television. You will then need to turn the channel on the TV either to channel 3 or 4. Then turn on the VCR and you should be able to watch a tape on the VCR. If your VCR does not have a cable connection on it then you will need to buy an adapter that turns the cable connector into RCA style jacks.

Can't hook vcr to tv

on the back of your VCR there will be a yellow colored port - most likely labeled "OUT" as well as possibly a white/red pair of ports.
The yellow is for a VIDEO hookup, the white and red are for AUDIO hookups.
These ports use what is called an RCA type connection.
Radio Shack, or just about any department store should be able to sell you an inexpensive set of RCA cables.

now on the back of the TV (possibly on the side) you will also have the yellow, white and red ports.

Hook one end of the RCA cable to the colored ports on the VCR, the other end of the cable to the colored ports on the TV.

last thing - the TV most likely has multiple inputs. there is probably a input button on the TVs remote, you need to press that button to cycle through the inputs until you get to the one the VCR is hooked up to.
its easiest to put a tape in the VCR and press play - when you get to the right input, you will see your tape...

good luck

Cannot connect a VCR/DVD player to Zenith SY1959Y

you don't need a code for the vcr/dvd combo to work on your tv. You need to make sure you have hooked up the cables correctly. remember that the dvd can be hooked up with the component cabels and the vhs may need to be hooked up thru the tv cable hookup.

Hooking my dvd/vcr up to my television.

Easy Answer! connect to composite cabels to the ports underneath the words "DVD/VCR Out" for a Coaxial, use either the component ports or connect a coaxial cable from the port labled RF Out to the one on your television.
