HI, I have got a problem with my kawasaki ZR7 (2000) gearbox, when I started my bike this morning (tem is -1C) When I engaged to 1st gear the lever didn't spring back to it's position (it stayed on the bottom) so i had to pull it back myself. it seamed I have got the same problem with all 5 gears (lever doesn't spring back)
When I left bike for 7 hours outside garage I couldn't shift to any gear at all. So what do you thik? is there a problem with cold weather or I simply bent my shifting forks? Thank You, Ted

it sounds like you have a broken dog on 1st gear. (on sprocket inside gear box) gearbox needs stripping down and investigating.

Your dogs are grounded out. You are going to need your trans overhauled.

The worn shift fork is the problem. Normally a shift fork will never show any wear. When a fork gets bent is when wear begins to show. If a good shift fork is set side by side with a bent fork it is very hard to see any difference. The bend is so slight that it is usually impossible to discern. Put in a new fork and the shifting problem is history.
Now would be a good time to install new crank bearings and new crank seals as well.
