I just bought a pny 16gb usb 2.o drive to download pictures from computer onto the pny and it wont do anything. i have a xp

The flash drive may need to be REFORMATTED. In some cases, the flash drive is pulled out from the USB port incorrectly. That can lead to a damaged Flash Drive.
Always remove Flash Drives by using the EJECT method.
To format the USB Flash drive, go to the File Explorer (the bottom row of Icons on the computer screen showing a manila folder inside a holder) and locate the USB drive by letter, such as drive B,C,D, etc. One of these letters or higher. Tap the corresponding to the USB drive and an option box comes up. Select "Format" (Quick is ok). Once formatted, the drive is ready to accept data once again. If it cannot be formatted, then the USB DRIVE may have sustained damage to the circuit and no longer can be of service.

Reformat the drive

Perhaps it has not been prepped, eg: not formated to use. Format it with fat32 file system using formatting software from the manufacturer. Also, make sure the movie file does not exceed 16 GB.

click start click on my computer you should see your memory card
right click then select format

another way is to control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your memory card or it might be listed as a mass storage device
select format

you will see what its formatted in

Format it by using a device like a camera, the computer will not work to format this type of memory. I know this from own experience with 4 different computer in my house..

Plug in the flash drive. Go to my computer and open the flash drive. It should be names drive E:, F: G: then just drag and drop the picture files you want on the falsh

Your computers own software should be able to scan it just like any other drive on your computer

Try formatting the drive as NTFS instead of FAT32 (assuming you are using it only on Windows computers). FAT32 doesn't support files over 4GB.
