Toshiba satellite A100 Monitor problem

Hi all
-I have a Toshiba satellite A100 laptop and the problem is that when i turn it on the monitor displays a gray screen and nothing appears on it although the operating system and all the programs work normally
-I hooked the laptop to a regular monitor and it seems that every thing is fine
-I re-installed the display driver and the problem still exists
-I tried to log on windows on safe mode but the monitor still displays the grey screen
-finally when I hooked it to a regular monitor and configured it to dual show (both the laptop and the monitor show) the laptop monitor worked normally as if there was no problem at all !!

so please if any one encountered this problem or know any thing about it , please tell me
thanks
Mina

my toshiba a125 has the same problem, it took me a few days to figure this out - when i tap the back of the moniter it will come on like there is some type of short. Then a few days later only the grey screen and the tapping stopped working. I took the cover off and did not see any obvious wiring problems so I am also stumped- any clues

    Hi friends,

I have a Toshiba satellite L10-224 laptop and I have the booting problem. The problem is
that when i turn on the laptop, a gray screen is displayed and nothing
    happens after that.

I re-installed the OS, but it also did not help.
I tried to log on windows on safe mode but the monitor still displays the grey screen

So please if any one encountered this problem or know any solution to it, please send me an email to [email protected].

    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Nam

I have Toshiba Satellite A 100 which is not booting and does not show the boot screen . I have put a user password in BIOS and in abscence of boot screen I am unable to start the system. When Power is switched -on,the display screen lits -up without any characters/logo/Cursor and the CAPS lock and other two keys blink on the key-board.The the Function keys do not respond but gives a beep sound. I have tried to run System Restore DVD but the system could not be booted probably the booting sequence is required to be changed first. Please give our advise.

How to change display size to full screen

First, there is a button on the monitor called the "DeGrauss" button. Push on that to clear your monitor of any defects. Then there is another button that "stretches" your screen on the vertical sides. Play with that button next until it is to your satisfaction.

No display, nothing on screen

Try to hit the Fn+F8 button at the same time 5 or 6 times. This is what is used to turn off your LCD to plug it to a projector or to use a different screen. If that does not work then try to find a desktop monitor and plug it into the 9-pin slot on your laptop. Again hit the FN+F8 buttons again, if the display shows up on the desktop screen then you know that something has burnt out your LCD screen on your laptop.

How to correctly install new screen for a105

On the keyboard their is usually a button/key that will switch video outputs. Usually it will have a small picture of a screen and may require you to hold down the "FN" key while pressing it.

Another thing to check is that the backlight for the screen is not bad. This is a small bulb that runs along the bottom or top of the screen.

For the most part if the monitor is not plugged in the laptop will auto-detect which display to use.

You may also want to check the bios settings for "Video adapter" settings. This will of course need to be done using the external monitor.

Hope this helps you in some way.

S-Video Out Port

for A100 series, you can hook up the tv on your toshiba laptop through VGA port on S-video. you need to hook up the tv while the laptop is turned off. toggle the display by simply holding down the Fn button followed by the F5 button. and you need to set the mode on the tv as S-video. or you can go to display settings and set the tv as the secondary monitor. you can extend the display or do cloning.

i hope this info helps you.

Laptop monitor goes black

If you're working on the computer when that happens, it's not probably a power setting. Try to update your BIOS to the most current version at the toshiba support website (support.toshiba.com) & see what happens. Fixes the issue most of the time

I hope this helps.
