Depending upon transmmission bit rate, if the transmission is > then 6130 bit rate it will automatically change to 'STRAIGHT' mode and in this mode only two front speaker will work.
its not how there connected its in your settings. rehook up all your speaker connections properly, then make sure you proram the reciever to recieve fiber optic, hdmi, digital coax etc in the reciver.
First, the sound source must also be in DTS. DTS is typically not the default audio selection on any DVDs that have that format...you'll have to select it.
be more specific!...how is the tv hooked up? hdmi, component, straight to the tv, or into the amp then tv?....what audio out? optical, digital? also what are you trying to view? local programming? cable/sat? dvd? your best bet is to ignore video on the amp and go straight to tv. can't help u more until i have more specifics.
I had similar problem when setting up the YAMAHA remote control for my NEC LCD TV. At the end I found I did not follow the YAMAHA manual properly. Did you hold down the DTV/CBL button, and AT THE SAME TIME press the AV POWER for 3+ seconds? You should be able to "REMOTE SETUP OK" displayed in the front panel of the YAMAHA AV receiver. Hope this helps. BTW, only the TV POWER, TV MUTE and the numeric buttons work in my case.
Take the remote and press theDVD button. That will change the sound system from TV to your DVD. When you switch back to TV, dont forget to switch this back by pressing DTV/CBL white button
Read your instructions book again, when you press 7 that mean you are enter in select speakers you must use 7 then narrow UP DOWN and LEFT RIGHT when you finish you must save by press SET
The easy way to set it up is connect your receiver to TV then you can see the complete MENU on your TV screen
Or you initializer the unit to go back to the default mode, which will set to 5 speakers if you wish to do this look on same model I was post earlier how to initializer the receiver
As simple as this sounds, try hitting the speaker a/b button on the front of the unit, next to the headphone jack. I had the same problem, and was about to package the whole thing back up and go back to Best Buy when I hit this button and then the audio test worked.
