I have a frigidaire dryer model # FDEB34RGS2
It started making a squealing noise. After searching help forums we replaced the rear bearing assembly. (it was bad compared to pictures I saw) When we started it back up it is still making a loud squeaking noise. Not as bad as before but still not healthy. What else could be our problem?
The belts rarely squeal in a dryer and don't get wet, never need cleaned. What you describe sounds like possibly worn out drum slides on the front of the drum housing. Maybe even worn out felt seals. StanStihl has a good point about the idler pulley and drum rollers might need a drop of oil on their bearings. Just a drop or two though, too much and lint can build up on them.
There is a tension pulley that holds pressure on the belt, as well as wheels that the drum sits on. A drop of oil on the bearing of each one should solve the problem, unless the wear has gotten too far, and need replacing.
The drive belt.
usually this happens when the belt has gotten wet and it makes a high pitch screaming sound... cars make the same sound when the fan belts go bad. dryer belts can also do this when they get to much dust under them.
take the belt off and clean it and clean where the belt tracks over, then put it back, and see if it has helped, though if the belt has been spinning for time it can cause the belt to endure to much friction, therefore increasing the internal dimensions of the drive belt thus loosing grip and causing squealing sounds, in this case you need to get a new drive belt but they don't cost much to purchase.
Hope this has helped.
PS, I have the same issue, but I can't be bothered to open the dryer to clean the belt (wife is going nuts), but I'm pretty busy telling other people how to fix the same issue ;-)
