JVC Model No. HD-61Z456 Screen is completely Green

2 days ago, the picture on our JVC 61" model no. HD-61Z456 turned completely green with 1000 horizontal rows of lines and vertical columns of dashes ~1" wide (looks like the movie "the matrix" but green on green and no codes). We were able to turn it off and on and it went away. Yesterday it happened again and twice we were able to turn it off and on and it went away, then would not correct again. The completely green screen will not go away now and dislays that way as soon as warmed up. (although I do notice a single flicker 1/2 through warm up that I did not notice before) The screen appears this way no matter what input is selected, cable, tv, input #2 (= xbox 360). The cable runs through an HDMI and the xbox 360 through the standard green, blue, red / yellow, white, red input cords. You can very faintly see a picture behind the green. Menus appear on top of/in front of the green "matrix" and display normally.
I am a novice here - I basically set it up once and have not altered since late 2005 - except to move it out to connect a longer hdmi and once so a service guy could replace the bulb that went out 10 days before the 2 year warranty was up.

Sounds like the green tube is shot, tap on the green board see if theres a loose connection, with something hard plastic

Could you be a little more specific on how to do this?.. I am not quite sure what you mean by green board (there are several of them)... do DLPs even have tubes?

My Mitsubishi WS-65809 turns on and then off after about a miniute, the lamp light turns red

I think some confusion here, The model indicated is a WS series set does not use a lamp but has three picture tubes and the power light should be green on this model (ie no lamp light).

Want to try this again?

Blue colors are bright green

This model did have problems with : missing color (red, green or blue) and other issues like inverted picture-----it may need the main cpu reprogrammed which is done with a jig and two sd cards loaded into the set that way.

61 inch projection tv flashing on and off

The most common problem with JVC LCD rear projection TV is bulb failure. Do not panic, this is normal after 2-5 years of use.

You can change the complete assembly or for less cost just change the bulb. Do not use Osram or other funny brand "rebuilt" or locally made bulb. Use a Philips replacement and all should be good.

Changing the bulb involves removing the lamp assembly and taking it apart like a puzzle and replacing the bulb. JVC are a little more difficult to do than most others because the wires on the original bulb are molded into the glass on the original bulb. Wires must be cut and stripped of insulation before connecting to the new bulb.

All JVC LCD Rear projections TVs use TSCL110 TSCL110U TS-CL110U Lamps.

JVC TV: Model # HD61Z456 61 inch - what is the modet number of the bulb that I need to replace. I have no picture on my screen.

The bulb part number is: TS-CL110UAA. Take out the bulb and look inside from the front side. Visually inspect any physical damage inside. If it looks clean, lamp might be good

NO PICTURE OR SOUND

Hi
Usually, if the red light is flashing and you get no picture, that means that the lamp life cycle is finished and you'll have to get a replacment lamp. the lamp has about 3000 hours of life (2 to 3 years under nomal use).

You can buy a replacment lamp from here

Hope this helps
