HOW TO ADJUST THE CARBURETOR ON A SMALL GASOLINE ENGINE

We all have some frustration with small gasoline engines from time to time. Often, do to our own weak maintenance schedule we put these engines away for the season without paying any attention to the recommended procedures in the owner manual. Today I am going to talk you through the steps to adjust a small gas engine's carburetor.
1. Read through the whole list before you start adjusting.
2. Close both jets GENTLY
3. Open the Low speed 1/4 turn
4. Open high speed jet 1 1/4 turn
5. Start engine.
6. Adjust low speed until idling smoothly.
7. Open her up wide open.
8. Adjust High speed until engine transitions smoothly from idle to high speed without bogging.
9. Shut engine off. Let it cool.
10. Once engine is cold. Fire it up and let it idle for 30 seconds. Open it up wide open again. Adjust if necessary.

Please Note - It is best to adjust the carburetor at the beginning of the usage season. In other words, don't adjust your rototiller engine in the dead of winter when you won't use it in those conditions. Regards, Joe

the motor get hot and it use alot of gas!!

It must be time to check on your regular maintenance schedule. So start from the timing of the engine, check for the coolant , the water pump, and definetely the fuel pump. The engine will need a trimming for fuel. Since the mileage is not mentioned , you must check specifically on your maintenance schedules. Hope you get this corrected. good day

1999 A4: glow plug replacement...

Its very similar to replacing a spark plug. Unless you have a scheduled maintenance interval you just leave them alone.

If you are having problems you test each glowplug in the following way. Remove the glowplug from the engine. Get car jumper cables and put the negative wire on the casing away from the threads. Touch the positive cable to the top structure of the glowplug causing sparks. This is of course having the battery cables connected to the battery appropriately.

You can melt the glowplug. But if the glowplug resists heating up, resists glowing, it is bad. Just ordinary small gauge wiring will melt. You need jumper cables and even they can get hot. Thats all truckers have done for the big rigs.

what is your recommendation for oil change for Acura TL 04...every 3,0000 or 5,0000 miles

You should change it at least every 3,000miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first. The more often you change your oil, the longer your engine will last.
