I have an original Braun KSM1 coffee grinder much like echinococcus: Model No: 4024, KSM1 120V a.c. 40-60 cps/1.25 amps. It still works like a charm. But today the small plastic piece that engages the lid and allows the grind button to work, snapped off right at the rim. Is there anything at all I can do to get my grinder back, or has its day of reckoning arrived?

I need this lid! If you ever have no need for your grinder, I'd love the lid :)

Seems like the lids are these grinders' weak spot. Too bad someone doesn't injection-mold or 3D print replacements. I'm sure there are a lot of us out here with these workhorses who would love new lids.

SOURCE: Braun KSM1 XXU coffee grinder stuck 'ON'

The little plastic piece is part of the spring tension for one motor brush. It has been re-installed. I no longer need any assistance.

It only has two screws in the bottom...
Tighten them... (only).

If you take it APART the switch mechanism
is fragile & complex.

You will be sorry.
