JVC 56 When you change channels or turn the TV off - you can see blue vertical lines and an area of blue splattered on the screen, and you can see where a channel identification was burned in on the lower part of the screen. Any ideas? Thanks

I will turn on my 1995 jvc and all i see is a white horizontal line about half inch that won't go away unless i hit the tv then i get my picture back.

The vertical output integrated circuit needs to be resoldered to the circuit board. It's common for these connections to develop cracks over time. When you smack the set it's causing the connections to make contact again for a while. There may also be capacitors in the vertical circuit which need to be replaced as well. They age and change in value.

The lightning probably zapped the tuner in you set. If no signal is present the screen is muted (BLUE).This is a feature to prevent your seeing snow on the screen. Stargazer
