IS THERE A CONTAINER FOR THE ICE TO COLLECT IN UNDER THE ICEMAKER??? IF NOT YOU WILL NEED TO GET OR ORDER ONE..
NEXT THERE IS A WIRE LEVER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ICE MAKER. WHEN THE ICE PUSHED THAT LEVER UP IT WILL QUIT MAKING ICE. WITH YOUR HAND GENTLY LIFT THE LEVER UP UNTIL IT STAYS LOCKED IN THE UP POSITION... ONCE IT IS IN THE UP POSITION ... IT WILL NOT PRODUCE ANY ICE.
Start by unplugging fridge. Take 1/4 inch nut drive ( sometimes phillips ) remove bottom screw from under ice maker. Next loosen top to screws mostly out. The screws are located in brackets near the ice tray behind the front cover. Ice maker has brakets that the top screws slide into. Lift the icemaker up and out off the screws. Next disconnect the quick connect that is on the back wall of the freezer. Some models are hard wired into the icebox. If this is like yours than disconnect the quick connect from the icemaker itself. Take icemaker out of freezer and connect quick connect into or from new ice maker. Slide the new icemaker onto screws and into place. Screw bottom screw in and than tighten the top two screws. Place ice maker arm down so it can make ice. Give it 24 hours to cycle before it starts producing ice. Most of the time icemaker starts making ice within a couple hours. Plug in fridge.
yes the lever needs tp be push lightly down and then the ice maker will be in on position again. then the ice maker will call for water then it should start making ice in a few hours.
Hi, first , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If if freezes
, and dumps , replace the water valve. If it does
not dump the cubes , replace the ice maker. After
pouring the water into the ice maker , remove the bottom kick panel ,
and clean the bottom coils , of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this
will raise the freezer temp . An ice maker has to be 5 degrees , to
operate , correctly . If ice maker starts working , after cleaning the
coils , GREAT ! ( it does happen ) .
Sounds like you are not going to use the automatic icemaker, so I would remove the whole icemaker unit which will include disconnecting the wire harness behind the icemaker which will shut off power to the icemaker and will also give you more storage room in your freezer compartment. This will not harm the refrigerator or the icemaker, you could also disconnect the waterline if you want. Please note that this solution applies to the top freezer, and bottom freezer style refrigerators only thatt DO NOT have dispensers through the door. Good luck !
The ice maker switch had come unattached due to excess ice buildup, and frozen to the ice pack. The ice in the ice maker had also frozen into a solid block due to not being able to rotate. After removing the drawer trays and protecting the frozen food, turning off the refridgerator, I used a hair drier to melt and remove the ice from the ice maker, gave it time to dry out, -- No gears wer stripped,- the ice maker now works normally.
Odds are due to the fact the ice maker was left on for an extended time with a full tray of ice the mechanisms froze. You can take a hand held hair dryer and defrost the parts, just be careful not to get too over zealous and melt the plastic parts. It should only take a few minutes to defrost. To avoid this problem from occurring again, I turn the ice maker off when the ice tray is full. Regards, Ann
ONE OF THREE THINGS,THE INLET WATER VALVE ON THE BACK BOTTOM HAS FAILED,THE WATER SUPPLY TUBE IN FREEZER BEHIND ICEMAKER HAS FROZE,OR THE ICEMAKER ITSELF IS BAD,LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND-MIKE
