My LG LRSC 26923TT side by side refrigerator has an ice making system that has a flexible ice tray that is emptied in a twisting motion when the ice is ready. The tray is now bent or "torqued" permanently from repeated motion and when it is filled with water for the next cycle, some water spills into the ice container and freezes the ice and the auger for the dispenser. It also splashes water down the interior wall of the freezer and onto the contents of the freezer.
What can be done to fix this problem?
We have the same problem with the ice cube tray. Repairman said the tray must be replaced every year as continual bending warps it out of shape. Replace every year and your problem is solved.
I had this problem when I hooked up my ice line. It seemed water was coming out too fast which caused it to splash and overflow. This was GREAT when trying to fill a really big cup of water as it was FAST but no so great when filling the ice trays which caused overflowing water and a bunch of ice all frozen together. The solution for us which has worked well is to slightly turn the water shut off to the ice maker down until the flow of water was slower. It took some testing but once we got the right of water coming out of the line it hasn't had a problem since then. Now it takes longer to fill a cup of water but ice comes out great!!
Had this exact problem a few years ago with mine (tray getting stuck and allowing water to spill all over the ice box). My solution was to take #1 house hold oil, coat a q-tip, and rub it on the grooves on both sides of the bracket that holds the tray. Everyone is right in that one side or both sides of the tray would get stuck when the motor would try to return it to an upright position. By oiling the bracket grooves on which the tray rotates, the tray is kept from getting stuck again. No problems ever again, now going for 2 years. Hope this helps.
Needs a new tray....
Is there calcium build up on the end of the water feed line? If there is it can cause the water to spray instead of running smoothly..

I have this exact same problem. One corner of the ice tray is warped from the twisting it does to dump the ice. Then when the water fills, it pours out the lowered corner into the freezer making a big mess. Please help.
I too have the exact same problem after two years of use. I can replace the ice tray, but it appears as though this is a design flaw and will occur again in about another two years.
It appears we are having the same problem. Appears the trays are somewhat warped although we have only been using the ice maker for the last couple of months. We clean out the ice cube tray on a weekly basis as it will stop dispensing. By the next day there is a bunch of ice cubes stuck together and it appears there is water getting into the ice cube tray making it a huge block of ice. It also doesn't appear that the arm to stop ice cube production when the tray is full works.
We purchased our LG side-by-side, 26 cu ft refrigerator (don't have model # w/ me) in Feb. 2006. By March or April of 2007, our ice tray was having this problem (water running out of the ice cube tray when filling). This was 1-2 months after 12 month warranty expiration, of course. What I have noticed is that, although the ice tray appears to be warped, there is actually something it is getting hung up on around the left-hand pivot point when it rotates back to the fill position. If I give it some "help" (push up on the front corner when it stops), it will pop into place. This has to be done before the water starts to fill or it does no good as the water just pours out the front, left corner. If you pop it up after the water has started, water flies all over the place as well.
My "fix" was to run to the freezer every time I heard the tray dump in order to make sure it was level when the water started. Also, I turned the ice maker off overnight. This usually lasted 1 day because I would forget to turn the ice maker back on, plus wasn't around the kitchen to hear the ice dump. Also, after cleaning out the bin & leaving ice maker off for a while, after turning it back on, the tray seems to return level for several times before it gets hung up again. This gives you the false sense that it is fixed, then you come back a day or two later to a big chunk of ice in the bin.
Eventually, I turned the ice maker off & just don't have ice now.
same problem with warping tray. obviously a design flaw. LG should recall these trays.
i am having the exact same problem. when the ice tray fills wilth water it spills into the ice reservoir causing all of the ice cubes to fuse together.
SAME AS ALL OF THE OTHERS. BENT-TWISTED ICE TRAY THAT SPILLS WATER DOWN THE SIDE OF WALLS AND JAMS ICE AUGER.
I have the LG LRSC 26923TT with similar problems of water leakage causing the ice in the storage bin to clump together. The problem isn't with a warped tray (which it is anyway) or spilling water, but is caused because the ice tray activates and dumps into the storage bin before the ice cubes are fully frozen. Water leaks out of the 75% frozen cubes after they're dumped into the bin fuzing all of the ice together. All I can do is periodically turn off the ice maker and not let the storage bin get very full. The ice doesn't clump together very bad with only a a couple dozen cubes in the bin. I wish I knew how to tell the "drop" sensor to wait longer before rotating the ice tray and dropping the half-frozen cubes. Freezer is set to max cold yet ice still doesn't fully freeze before tray drops into bin.
my freezer has water frozen all down the insides and the ice will not move.
I want a new refrigerator!
I have exactly the same problem. I also think some of the ice won't dump sometimes, causing the tray to overfill into the ice reservoir.
We have the exact same problem with the ice system on LG model LSC26905TT and now has progressed to actually "wearing away" the plastic ice container itself where the corkscrew metal piece connects to the outside of it. We've already replaced the ice cube tray but now are having difficulty finding the replacement ice container (bucket). Does anyone know where we get one? Why hasn't LG recalled these!
Same problem here. Ice builds up at the back of the freezer, jamming the auger and forcing the tray to twist and leak. I had Sears come out to repair under warranty, but they said there was nothing to fix. I am supposed to chip the block of ice out of the back every few weeks to prevent it from building up. I gave up defrosting freezers many years ago!! Now, because I forgot to chip out the ice block for a few months, chunks of the plastic ice-maker mechanism are actually breaking off and being dispensed through the door. This fridge is less than two years old. Horrible ice maker. DO NOT BUY!!!!
Ice maker is leaking water all over the inside of freezer on to floor!!!!
it is exactly the same. the water pours over the oce tray and into the ice bin thereby freezing the auger.
