You have to configure your DTV input to use optical audio instead of analog dtv audio (red/white plugs). Input assignment should be described in the manual. Come back to me if you have still problems with it.

No sound from rear speakers with TV and DVD player

You also have to connect a SPDIF coax or optical from both the DVD player and from the STBox into the digital inputs on the rear of the receiver. And select them with the remote control.

How to connect the PS3 to RX-V365 to get best sound qualitity in films. I have sony BRAVIO LCD wiht PS3 and I recently bought RX-V365 Yamaha home theater system. Please advice on connecting all three to...

You can connect PS3 video via HDMI to receiver and from receiver via HDMI to TV. But RX-V365 doesn't support HDMI audio, so you have to connect audio separately via SPDIF digital cable. I think PS3 uses optical SPDIF, so you will need optical cable. If you can't find cheaps optical cables in your shop, you can try byuing from ebay ($1-5 max.)

Sound from tuner but no other devices

The RX-V365 cannot process audio from the HDMI cables (you will still be able to hear it on your TV), you will need to run a seperate coaxial or optical cable into the audio input for the relevant component on the back of the RX-V365.

Run optical or digital coaxial from your PS3 to the receiver and HDMI from the PS3 directly to the TV. Your receiver's version of HDMI will not work, it's 1.1 and cannot be updated. That's the fix, if you want more info on HDMI problems google HDMI issues or problems and you will find thousands of posts and forums on this issue. Short answer though is, you either need a receiver with version 1.3b HDMI or run optical or digital coaxial for audio to your receiver. Hope this helps

Make sure that the DVD player is connected into the correct inputs on the receiver and that the receiver also has the correct input selected to play. If your TV also has component video inputs it is best to connect the player directly to the TV. Otherwise, make sure you have the TV connected to the receiver via component video out.

When connecting hdmi out from my panasonic blue-ray player to the dvd input in my yamaha rx-v365 there is not audio or video, why?

There are several video and audio inputs named DVD. For video you have HDMI, component and composite. For audio you have standard analog stereo and digital coaxial spdif input.
You need to configure the receiver to use the correct inputs - that means HDMI and coax. Also you need to connect the BD player via coax spdif cable to the receiver, because rx-v365 doesn't support audio via HDMI. If BD player has only optical output, use DTV/CABL HDMI input and DTv/CABL Optical input on the receiver.

I plugged in my cable HDMI into my RX - V365 Yamaha reciever. and HDMI into my TV. I get video, but cannot get my attached (to reciever) speakers to play. Help

RX-V365 doesn't support HDMI audio. You need to connect the cable box also via spdif cable for audio to work. Look at the box if it uses optical spdif or coax spdif. If optical, you see that optical input on receiver is named DTV/CATV, so use also DTV HDMI for video. Coax spdif is named DVD, so in this case you will need to use DVD HDMI input.
Also you need to configure the inputs accordingly.

I own a Yamaha RX-v365 and i cant figure out how to connect my PS3 to the surround sound. For some reason the HDMI cables wont work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As above :
Connect PS3 via HDMI to DTV/IN, Connect HDMI from out to TV's HDMI/IN. Connect TV's Optical out to amps DTV/Optical in.

2X HDMI cables and one Optical are required.

I have the V363 but yours looks the same.

Enjoy great sound :)

OH: choose the DTV input then stereo and then dolby etc .. cheers
