Trying to hook my Wii up using the AV audio Jacks

I have the Sony STR DE 575 receiver and I am trying to connect my Wii into the system to utilize the surround sound. My Wii has the AV jack (red, yellow, white) rca jacks. How do I do this with the satelite as my main signal hooked up. My VCR no longer has video with the new Satelite connection coming from the cable hook up I use to have.DVD player works fine, Satellite TV works fine. Just cant use the 3 plug input on the VCR to take advantage of the surround sound. Most of the input connections only have two connections, red and white, no yellow for video. How do I make this work. Use the S-Video for all the devices, feeding into the TV???? Help

Well, I hooked the Wii directly into my old 42 inch TV Audio input jack and then ran the two rca jacks out from the audio (from the TV) to my Sony amp, connecting to the input section of the monitor section. I then changed the Wii sound selection to surround sound, made sure that my Sony STR DE 575 was using the Dolby Prologic. One more step, I had to tell the TV itself to turn off the internal speakers and use the variable output. WALA, it works. What a piece of work! So I played games for hours, smiling like a chesser cat doing so.. Thanks for your help.

Connect the Wii to your television. Then connect the variable audio output from the TV to the audio in on the monitor section of the receiver. Then use the TV/SAT input selection on the receiver and dolby prologic 2 as your sound mode.

How can i connect my laptop to a db790 amplifier?

All you need is a 3.5mm Stereo Mini jack to two RCA jacks. Connect this to the line or speaker out of the laptop into anything but the phono input on your sony. The phono input will be over driven and sound bad and possibly damage something in the system. Try using any other unused device input on the receiver.

HOW CAN I HOOK UP CAVILIER 200A POWER AMP TO A sony str av 770x f

You can pull the Left and Right stereo program from either MD/Tape or Video 2 Audio OUTputs. Run a pair of RCA cables to the Active EQ's Line IN; then the EQ's Line OUT to the Cavalier's Line IN.

If the Tape output you're borrowing the program from is already connected to something, use RCA-cable splitters.

Remember to NEVER activate the monitor for that Tape function during playback of any digital audio source - it disables the digital input; or if the 901's are being used - it will remove the signal to the Cavalier.

Now if you wanted to use the 901's in your movie listening this will work with two limitations

Your receiver doesn't have preamp outputs for Front Left and Right out so you'd be extracting only the mixed-down 2-channel version of whatever the Sony is processing.

You'll have to manually control the Cavalier's volume because the pre-out you're using is BEFORE the Sony's volume control.

It might still be an improvement over what you have now.

I dont know how to connect the wii to my rx-465 receiver.

The Wii AV cable should have a red/white pair of Audio Output jacks on it.
Check out pg. 8 of the Wii manual: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/WiiOpMn_setup.pdf
Connect the red/white RCA plugs from the AV cable to a line level audio input on your receiver. If you use AUX IN, then select AUX IN on the INPUT selector switch. You should then hear the sound from the Wii through your receiver/home theater system.

Hook up wireless speakers

I'm assuming the wireless speakers you have utilize an RCA jack to connect to the receiver.

Solution:

The good news is yes, you can use them on your receiver. The bad news is that the only output on your receiver is "VIDEO OUT" so whatever you want to watch or hear on the wireless speakers must be connected to the "VIDEO INPUT".

If the wireless speaker module uses speaker wire to connect to a receiver you will simply tap into the surround thumb clip speaker jacks.

I will add that wireless speakers tend to be disappointing when used in home theater.

Equalizer connections

Usually you hook your equalizer between the pre out and main in RCA jacks and then open the connection between the pre and main with a switch. If your unit doesn't have pre out/ main in jacks then I have seen it done by putting your equalizer between the tape in and tape out jacks and then select that tape function on your front panel. The tape out goes to eq. in and the eq. out goes to tape in. Good luck.
