I have model 2701 (AMW 320R) watch. Battery needs changing. Once back is off how do you get under protective barrier to get to the battery in order th change it for a new one?
I use a back removal tool to unscrew the back. You can get a watch back removal tool from E-bay for like $4. Be careful because there is a o-ring that is easily damaged. Once inside, lift the plastic cage out. Be careful, there is a little tiny spring that can fall out, make sure it stays in the module. The battery is held in place by a metal strap. Use a tiny tool to unhook the strap from the side of the battery. Once the metal strap is unhooked, carefully lift the battery out and insert the new one. Don't lift the metal strap any more than necessary. Push down on the metal strap so it will lock back in place. When you put the plastic cage back, make sure the little spring in the module goes through the little hole in the cage. Use a small tool to get the plastic button springs under the buttons. I would recommend to lubricate the o-ring with something, preferably some sort of silicone lubricant. Be especially careful not to pinch the o-ring, because it is delicate. You will be working with small parts, so if your eyesight isn't the best, it would be nice to have one of those workshop magnifying glasses of some sort...I use a back removal tool to unscrew the back. According to their site, they don't want you replacing the battery. The battery is a silver oxide type, and the number is sr927W. You can find one with a google search. I'm including a link to a youtube video for 320, which might be close enough. If it is, you'll need a tool they mention that they say costs $6 How to change the battery on Casio AMW 320R watch
Normally this is the battery... Try the battery before considering to send the watch to Casio for service. Or, if you send it they will fix it and send it back. They are not very expensive for their service.
mcdevito75 here, Best Bet, bring your casio to a small watch repair shop in your area, The LCD display can be ruined while replaceing the battery, useing to much pressure, Let the watch shop change the battery.
You haven't said what make of watch you have but I assume the "AMW" is an Armitron designation.
You can get instructions from the Amitron web site. Copy
"www.armitron.com/watch_instructions.asp" into your search engine and
you will see a list of illustrations of watches and associated instructions.
