Question about KitchenAid KBMC140HSS Convection/Microwave Oven
I have a KitchenAid microwave model KBMC140HSS03, Serial number XR3409470 that has a burned out light bulb. KitchenAid customer service tells me the bulb must be replaced by a service man. I don't want to spend $150 in labor charges to replace a light bulb. I know the halogen lamp is in the top of the microwave but I don't have any idea how to get to the bulb to replace it. Can you please tell me what to disassemble to gain access to the bulb so I can replace it. Thanks very much!
I a Kitchen Aid Buit-in microwave (KEMC308KSS01) with the same problem - light went out. Can you send me the instructions on how to replace the bulb? Thank you! firstname.lastname@example.org

The bulb cost me $40 and is as smaller than a thumbnail. Use gloves or paper towel to hold it-grease from fingers will shorten life. The two prongs slide in to the ceramic holder. The entire microwave comes out, then you take cover off and prop next sheet metal layer up while you reach in and change it. It helps to have a STURDY work table to put it on while you disassemble it. Takes an hour if everything goes right.

Master_Tech, in the Grand Cayman Islands emailed me the service manual on my microwave and the lamp part number. If the people needing this information would contact me directly by email, email@example.com or phone at 913-631-4725 I will be happy to pass all of this information on to you - the service manual is 87 pages. With the proper disassembly instructions and the bulb specs it took me about an hour to replace the lamp.
Thanks again to Master_Tech for helping me!

My model is KHMS2056SSS and bulb replacement is simple. Use a "star" bit that fits the single screw that holds the frosted glass in place. Remove old bulb, then replace with a 10 watt/ 12 volt halogen bulb with a G4 base. Make sure to hold new bulb with a paper towel or wear clean gloves (your greasy fingers kill bulb life!) Replace the glass and secure the screw. Problem solved for $7.

& Welcome to FixYa
replace the light bulb first remove the screws located on the vent grill at the
top of the microwave, tilt the grill back and then pull away to remove. After
this open the light cover , you have to remove the screws so that you can
discard the old light bulb and then replace it with a new one. Please get back
to me if you have any other questions.
