The RY80030 Pressure washer has a Faip pump on it. There is no drain plug and you do not change the oil in it. The pump only holds 4.5 ounces of oil and the pump only has a life expectancy of between 30 and 50 hours. If for some reason The oil gets drained, remove the pump from the motor and set it on a bench standing up on end. Remove the allen bolts holding the water and oil sides of the pump together.Be carful as the piston springs are under load. fill the pump 3/4 of the way full and replace the head. there is a smoke stack on the pump but it is simply a breather not an oil fill.

There is a plug on the bottom of the motor, it may be located as part of the fill spout(where the dipstick is) drain and fill with 5w30 generally it is found in the owners manual, but if you dont have one just start with half a quart, check the dipstik, then add more until it is at operating level.

What kind of pump oil

What you have is a generic pump from china more than likely. Its built along the line of a FAIP pump. They arent supposed to have the oil changed in them at all. Most are sealed pumps but may have a plastic plug in it. If you must replace the oil then I would suggest Pressure washer parts catalog quick links Pressure Washers High Pressure... and get this item 4.5 OZ. AR64545 OIL FOR AXIAL PUMPS. It is recommended for pumps built similarly but not for your specific pump. But it should work. Good luck. W

I have a Ryobi Pressure washer model number RY80030a. Water is leaking from the bottom where the pump head bolts to the carter. Is there suppose to be a gasket or sealant between the two parts?

each piston has a water seal and they often come in a water seal kit..... remove the head from the gearbox and replace. water seals are similar to oil seals

I have a Coleman 2200 6hp green tochemsa engine pressure washer and wanted to know what type of oil is used in the water pump? PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

The recommended oil is determined by the pump manufacturer (usually different from the engine), but most of the "consumer grade" pressure washers say you never need to change the pump oil. Maybe they figure something else will break before it needs new pump oil?

The little jugs of pump oil at home improvement stores are usually SAE 30W (non-detergent) crankcase oil. 75W90 gear oil seems like a better choice; I personally use synthetic marine lower unit gear lube in my pressure washer pump. It's a little more expensive, but I think the formulation gives better moisture resistance. Besides, the pump takes a fairly small amount, and I don't change it very often at all.

Bottom line- you almost certainly want non-detergent oil, around 30W crankcase/80W gear (since they use different scales, these are just about the same viscosity). Synthetics seem to be higher quality, and using marine grade lube gives me peace of mind.

The pump oil matrix here is illustrative- note the many substitutions allowed. The specific oil you choose probably doesn't make much difference, especially compared to never changing it.

How much oil does the coleman powermate 2400psi with a honda engine hold

Use only the quantity specified in your pressure washer's manual for your pump. If you're not sure, measure how much oil you drained and replace with that amount. Most pumps have an oil window or sight glass on the side of the pump, with a mark or red dot indicating the proper level for the oil.

Pump oil change, how much oil

There should be a drain plug (bolt) at the bottom of the pump to drain the oil. Undo bolt and drain the oil. Replace bolt and fill pump with new oil. Look for a sightglass on the side of the pump. Fill so the oil level is in the centre of sightglass.

How to change oil in a pressure washer

From the manual CleanShot 2050 Briggs and Stratton

Change Pump Oil
1. Drain engine oil and fuel from pressure washer
2. Use an 8 mm allen wrench to remove black pump oil cap between high pressure outlet and garden hose inlet.
3. Tiltl pressure washer to drain oil into an approved container until it drips slowly from pump.
4.Tilt pressure washer in opposite direction and empty premeasured pump oil bottle into same opening (a small funnel may be helpful) [THIS IS WHAT THE MANUAL SAYS-NOT CLEARLY WRITTEN IN MY OPINION OR WRITTEN BY SOMEONE FOR WHOM ENGLISH IS A SECOND LANGUAGE]
5. Install black pump oil cap and tighten firmly.
6. Set pressure washer in upright position. Add fuel and engine oil.

From the engine manual use synthetic 5w-30, 10w-30 from -20 degrees F to temperature of 100 degrees F.
Change oil after 5 hours of operation initially. Before tipping to drain oil, remove fuel from fuel tank by running until tank is empty. Remove oil cap and dipstick and tip engine. Keep spark plug side up. Or remove drain plug from the bottom of pressure washer with a ratchet and square extension and drain oil from bottom. (fuel does not have to be removed)

Foaming in pump oil window

I dont know which comet pump you have, but it is just easier to get a new pump from one of the pressure washer companies on the internet and they sell them on ebay. You can also probably get a better pump that will fit your engine as well. Also, have you tried just changing the oil and not fill it too full? On my 5000 lb washer, if i fill the oil too high when I change the oil, it will foam some. Hope this helps you, Rick
