I have a Bosch Nexxt Series 500 front load washer, 2months old. It will not drain, gives me an error signal E04 at rinse time in wash cycle. I am not using excessive amounts of soap. Ran many loads with no soap, get same error code. Checked back drain hose, all clear. Checked filter thing on front of washer in the little round door, all clear except a tiny amount of sand. Wiped that out, still same problem, won't drain. Anyone know what my next step is? Called repair man last Friday, can't come out for another week and a half!
Thanks,
Mamma5
Hello Mamma5, It sounds like the drain pump is either seized or jammed. The drain pump has an anti jam device in it. Since you have figured out how to get into the drain pump, try turning the inpeller in the back. It will be a little hard to turn as the magnets in the motor will fight you on this. Look close in case there is anykind of thread wrapped around the inpeller. If so, then you can free the pump. If you cannot free it to run, advise the repairman what you found so he can bring a drain pump with him.
Hope this helps.
On a front loader you can turn the small round door and remove on the bottom of the front of washer to gain access to the filter. Turn the plug counter clockwise to remove and clean filter. Have a bucket ready to catch thewater when it drain but be ready for Ames of water on the floor, bucket won't catch all the water. You will gain access to the filter, remove and clean. While it is open run he spin cycle to see if impeller is spinning. If it is check the drain hose. Blow back in the drain hose with your mouth to see if it is clear. If it is stopped up that's your problem . Use a fish tape or a wire to unclog gently . If you look above the impeller you will the hole where it drains . Put your wire in thru that hole. When you feel resistance gently push a try blowing back thru and see if it loosens, repeat until free flow. Replace filter and use grease or Vaseline to lubricate threads and rubber seal on plug and your good to go.
Mine is doing the same thing but it drains on ALL cycles BUT the rinse cycle. It even drains on the DRAIN setting or even the SPIN setting. I've opened that access plug several times and its clean. any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
This worked! I had the same problem. First, I unplugged the washer's power cord from the electrical outlet. Then I opened the filter door, and unscrewed the plastic cap, I cleaned our the area behind the cap and found two pieces of thin metal and a penny inside this area. One of the metal pieces was actually jamming the impeller. Spin cycle now works! Thanks!!

Hi Wiz,
Found another repair man that could come out today, he pulled the back of the machine off and unclamped a hose that leads to the pump. It had a toddler's sock stuck in it. Will use garmet bag for small items from now on. I thought only tiny baby socks could get in there! Cost of 15 minute repair $85. Being able to catch back up on laundry; priceless.
Thanks anyway!
