MyJenn Air (Model # JCD2295HES) side by side freezer leaks onto the floor. I've checked the bottom of the freezer compartment around the defrost drain and there is no water/ice inside the freezer, only a puddle on the floor. It happens sporadically (initially every 2-3 months, now once or so a week). Any suggestions/ideas?
Apparently it is the drain behind the freezer panel on the inside and it is blocked. It needs to be unblocked and cleaned. You remove the food and the rear panel on the inside of the freezer. With a hair dryer (carefully) remove all ice build up and then unblock the drain line going to the pan under the refrigerator. The drain line can be cleaned with bi-carb and hot water (not boiling).
I have had this a few times.
Remove 2 bottom racks and the shelf.
Back out the two nuts on the back wall.
Remove the cover the one with the vent holes and begine to thaw out the ice on the bottom of pan with hair dryer.
Then use some warm water and a flexible copper wire not stranded more like a ground wire from romex cable to snake up and down the line. When you go down about 14 inches you will start to hit the pan.
At that point you have opened and frozen section of the line. Then one more application of warm water. I have done this every 2 years or so...
We had the same problem and fix (melt ice, clean out pipe as described). We believe the initial cause for the blockage was that the fridge was not level (leaning forward) which caused drain water to pool in front of the valve and eventually block it. The fridge is in the basement on a very unlevel floor. We levelled it as much as possible and are waiting to see what happens - we may have to put something under the front legs to help compensate for the uneven floor.
I may have a fix. I tired this about 3 months ago and have not had any leak since. I took everythiong out of the freezer and unscrewed the back. Then I let the pipe thaw. This was blocked and water was unable to drain into the pan. Since I have done this no more water on the floor. However, I do expec it will freeze again someitme in the future.
From your description I'll gather you're not getting ice cubes either and need to replace the ice maker

Water is dripping betwwen the gasket and panel on the lower corner edges of the freezer door. The leak is sporadic and causes a pool of water on the floor in font of the freezer. I can see it dripping from the corners of the door.
is the door a resevoir fopr the water dispenser? I have inspected the tubing that supplies water to the door and it is intact as far as I can see. I can/t see want happens inside the door. What should I do next?
Have a leak coming from the condensate line I believe, which is on top of the unit and has a wicking system. The two metal kripping clams are loose. Do I need a special tool to tighten?
I have the same periodic leak and believe it is do to the automatic defrost cycle. I have found ice on the inside floor of the freezer and then took the inside back panel off and found the drain to be full of ice. I think this must have something to do with the humidity control as there is a opening between the freezer and the fridge behind the crisper.
Same problem with leaking. I see the water at the bottom of the freezer and it puddles onto the floor. It's not constant, but it's a regular occurance. After cleaning the collections of dust from the bottom of the fridge and all around, the leak is the same.
The same problem though almost every third day always at night. My freezer pools with ice at the bottom and I too can see water dripping from the door area, I am about to have my floors refinished and would like to have a solution before I do this.
Same problem here. Just started recently...every couple of days my freezer pools with ice at the bottom and then water drips out onto the floor. Would like to try to fix this myself instead of paying big bucks to a repair co. (or buy a new fridge). Any advice? Thanks!
I have the same issue. Has anyone had success in fixing it themselves. Or has a repairman successfully fixed it for anyone?
I have the same problem, ice in the bottom of the freezer and a pool of water in front of the freezer every two to three days, tried thawing it out but only for 4 hours or so before my husband turned it back on. Maybe should of left it over night because the pooling is back!?
Same problem but mine doesn't drain because the drain "pan" is frozen so water can't drain normally so it ends up on the floor outside the freezer. Problem is, I don't know what keeps the Drain from freezing when it works properly. Any clues???
THANK YOU, Digweed!
I had the exact same problem. Water dripping down into the bottom compartment from the "vent" opening just above. I had permanently removed the basket and placed a towel on the bottom, changing the towel every three days. That stopped the pooling of water on the floor, but obviously it was not a "solution."
I removed the two screws about halfway up, at the top of the long flat panel. There was so much ice at the bottom of the panel that I had to use a hair dryer for a good 10 or 15 minutes before the panel became free. After removing that, it was back to the hair dryer to loosen the large chunk of ice in the metal pan.
In the end, it wasn't so much the ice that was causing the blockage, as it was a jawbreaker-sized lump of a gum/putty-like substance.
After removing the ice and that putty, it was back to the hair dryer to start melting the ice below the metal pan. When that was mostly gone, I undid the one screw holding the pan in place and removed the pan, revealing...more ice. Back to the hair dryer. Finally got it all.
But that gum/putty substance was blocking the drain hole. I undid the screws holding the panel at the bottom of the back of the fridge in place, and saw where the drain was. I gently removed the black rubber bit connected to it, and used a small screw driver to poke up through all the gum/putty stuff.
After removing the gunk, I reattached the rubber bit connecting the drain hole to a short stretch of pipe...and noticed three mice in the bottom of the fridge. Not real mice -- little toy mice. (They didn't appear to be blind. ;)
In any case, I'm thrilled to have this particular issue behind me.
Thanks again, Digweed! :-)
