This is usually a plugged drain trough. Every time your refer defrosts itself, the melted frost drips off the evaporator behind the wall of your freezer and drains into a drain trough, through a hole and into a drain tube that ends above a condensate pan where the heat of the compressor-condensor evaporates the water. Food gets into this drain line and plugs up your line, causing it to freeze the melted water into a slab of ice that eventually drips onto your floor. Most units you have to remove the freezer back panel inside the freezer to get to this, although some models you can see the drain trough without removing the panel. You can use hot water to clear this. Flush it out until you hear water pouring into you condensate pan. I use a garden pump up sprayer to shoot pressurized hot water through the drain line to make sure it is cleared out. Needless to say dont use this if you have had any poisonous chemicals in your sprayer. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
Your defrost drain is most likely clogged. You may have to remove the back wall of your freezer to get to the drain. Thaw the ice and use compressed air to clear the drain. Before reassembling put a small amount of dishsoap in the drain and pour a cup of water down the drain. Please rate this response.
