Unit used to fill up within a couple days. now it won't fill up within a week. went to look a little deeper into unit and found the unit was frozen up with large amount of ice on condenser coils. unit is less than 2 years old..
I did a little digging around on the internet and found out that if the basement (or where ever you have your unit) is in an area where the room temp might dip below 65 degrees the coils may start to become "too efficient" in pulling the moisture/humidity out of the air and it begins to freeze on the coils before it can drip off into the reservoir. The site said to turn off the unit and let it thaw out, then restart it and see if everything works ok after that. If the temperature gets too low you might need to warm up the air in the room/basement before it will operate correctly again/not continue to freeze up. Hope this helps. Mine just did the same thing but we've had some pretty cold weather recently and the basement is fairly cold as well.

I have the exact same problem. I have have this unit for less than 1 1/2 years when this problem started. I clean the filters and the coils on the condenser where clean. I could see right through them. I think the dehumidifier is cheaply made and the welds on the cooling system are poorly welded, thus resulting in slow freon leaks, thus resulting in freezing. I would not buy any product from Comfort-Aire or parent company again.
Same problem. I have had it for less than 1.5 years and it is freezing up at the top of the coils. It had been working fine for about a year. It's supposed to be a low temp unit good to 42 F. Called Comfort Aire and was told only the compressor would still be covered. Pretty poor quality product. Not happy with it!
Oh yeah, same story here. What a piece of junk this is. I have had it for two years and the unit has always been EXTREMELY noisy. Now I am having the ice problem on top of the unit. Taking it apart and cleaning it didn't help at all. I will never buy Comfort Aire again.
same exact problem. about 2 years old - icing up. Very dissapointed.
