My 4 yr old Whirlpool Duet frontload electric dryer is not completely drying the loads. I read on consumer reports website that the sensors may need to be cleaned, because of fabric softener buildup on the sensor itself. How do I clean these sensors and also where are they located?
The sensors are two metal strips inside the drum. They are on the right side just behind the filter. They are silver colored and have a slight curve to them. You cannot see them unless you put your head inside the drum. I clean my sensors with a non metal pot cleaner like 3M Scotch Brite. These sensors also fail if you dry silicon backed carpets.
You should also try removing the bottom plate of the dryer. Its pretty easy. Look at the bottom of each side and remove the two screws and the plate will come off. Then on the front right side, under the door, check if the connections to the sensors may have come off. One of mine was disconnected and I found it to be a little loose when I put it back on. I disconnected it again and took some pliers crimp it a little for a tighter fit, and put it back on. If you crimp it too tight, you can use a flat-head screw driver to open it a bit. It also helps to press with one hand on the sensor on the inside of the dryer while pushing the connector back onto the lead with the other hand to get it back on and ensure that the connection is snug. This fixed my problem.

I have found that my Duet dryer is sensitive to lint buildup. I bought two brushes, a long thin one to clean the area that the lint filter fits in, and a round one that is the diameter of the dryer exhaust pipe. I have found surprising amounts of lint on the louvered exhaust vent cap that is on the side of the house.
I have been doing the cleaning at about 3 month intervals, and no more problems.

I have the same problem and am trying to figure it out too. My dry is 4 years old as well. I have read plces to clean the internal and extrernal duct. I have done that and still have the same problem.
Any help????
Duet 9250. Sensors not working correctly. Dryness Level Selection High for Heavy Duty is 56 Minutes (But it will run longer if a lot of clothes, and run shorter if fewer clothes). So Sensors are working some what, but they still do not come out completely dry. If set to low dryness level, clothes are dryer than they went in but still considerabily damp. Is there a way to calibrate sensors, either myself, or by calling Dryer Repair?
MY whirlpool duet does not completely dry the clothes as well as it once did. It works eventually but performance is down.
Six months ago, my two year old Duet dryer #9250 started to shut off before the clothes are dry. This happens only the automatic cycle. It runs for 10 minutes and then stops. A&E repair service has made 7 trips to repair it - still has the same problem. I have had 2 new thermistors, a thermastat, and a wire harness. Any suggestions? What number do I call to get this machine replaced??
Same problem. Automatic cycles are now worthless - must put the all loads in as heavy duty, high temp - a quick way to ruin delicates and permanent press. Multiple calls to service - all "clean" the sensors, but to no avail. Have given up. Looking for a new washer/dryer combo - one not made by Whirlpool.
