SOURCE: memory stick pro duo sony won't read

Files on a flash drive and memory cards in a card reader can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the memory card and flash drive you may need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -

How to remove write protection from sony memory stick pro duo

There should be a small plastic catch on the side of the card which allows you to write protect the memory stick pro duo. It should have an image of a lock or say locked next to it, if it is locked you won't be able to write to it. Slide it to the unlocked position using a fingernail or a paperclip.

Camera keeps telling me to reinsert the memory card. I've tried to new cards. When I put the memory card I was replacing because it is full, it goes back into the camera just fine.

As a last resort you could copy the full card to a computer and then delete the pictures on the card and use that again.

Here is the error list from the camera manual.
This is all I can suggest from here.

"Reinsert the Memory Stick Error"
•
Insert the "Memory Stick Duo" correctly.
•
The inserted "Memory Stick Duo"cannot be used in your camera
(See below).
•
The "Memory Stick Duo" is damaged.
•
The terminal section of the "Memory Stick Duo" is dirty

The disk is write protected

You only can use Memory Stick Duo. There is a write protection switch on the memory card, you only can switch with a sharp point. Ball point or something like that. Have a close look on the card.

MagicGate is copyright protection technology that uses encryption technology. Data recording/playback that requires MagicGate

So if you have a MagicGate one it does not work and could give this error.

My sony memory stick pro duo is write protected

There should be a lock switch on the card, most likely on the left side. Slide the switch into the opposite position and see if this fixes the problem. If not, try formatting the card from your camera and then attempt to load it on to your computer.
