Where can I purchase eye piece rubbers for olive drab rubber coated 19x50 selsi?

Hi,

The eyepieces should be easily available through any good selsi agent. If they don't stock them they should be able to order them for you..

Where do i find the model number on my steiner binoculars?

The model of Steiner binoculars is on the plastic plates on the body. On earlier models mainly the green rubber covered military types is is molded at the front of the body near the objective lenses. These were called the Military/Marine and are of a different specification to the current Military/Marine. The original were a military bincocular which has more in common with the current Steiner Military. If you are after the serial number it is located on the front metal disc between the binocular barrels on a porro prism binocular. A porro is where the objective lenses are spaced further apart than the eyepieces. On a roof prism Steiner the serial number is located underneath between the two barrels on the hinge. Roof prisms are binoculars where the objective and the eyepieces are in line. If the serial number is a 10 digit number the 1st and 3rd numbers will give you the year of manufacture.
EG: 9042577777= 1994
If it is five or six digit number then it is the 1st and 2nd numbers
EG: 871245= 1987

Need eyepieces for Nikon Monarch ATB 8x42 Binoculars

If its the caps that cover them Nikon in your country can order them. They take about six to eight weeks if they are not in stock. If its the actual eyepiece lens an all you would need to have purposfully removed them and in doing so destroyed the waterproofing. If its the caps contact Nikon. You can also download the instructions from their website.

Differnt focus for each eye?

All binoculars (except some really cheap rubbish) have a different focus for each eye. There are two types. Binoculars that have two individual eyepieces that turn and no center focus wheel. This is common to military, astronomy and binoculars used at sea.

The other is the usual center focus binoculars that have a wheel between the two barrels. They will also allow either the left or right eyepiece to turn to focus for one eye. The reason is that manufacturers take into account that each eye is slightly different.

BINOCULAR ALIGNMENT

Up close to the eyepieces under the material that covers the binocs. You have to peel away at the material to get to them, or look for the splice in the material which is very hard to see.

Double image

The distance between the centers of the eyepieces of your binocular must be the same as the distance between your pupils. This distance is adjusted as follows: 1. Focus on a distant object. 2. Pivot the two halves of your binocular farther or closer apart until you can see a single unobstructed, circular field of view. Make sure to focus on a distant object when you do this because when you focus on a close object you always see two slightly overlapping circular fields. Your binocular may have a scale on the top, between the eyepieces, to help you remember this setting.
