Few washing machines use a water pump driven by the main motor - most have a separate motor/pump assembly.
Clearly there is more wrong with your washer than is immediately obvious. Not sure what is meant by the motor "tries" to run - surely it either runs or it doesn't?
Perhaps you mean because the motor isn't running you can hear the buzzing noise some controllers produce?
I am guessing either the controller is faulty or the controller thinks the tub is empty because something has gone wrong with the water level switch and so refuses to switch on the pump..
Clearly somebody with suitable experience should take a look inside.
I would check the drain hose to see if it is clogged. Be carefull if the machine is full and you drop the hose down to far you are going to get wet. When the machine is draining can you hear the pump run? If so then it may be a problem with the impeller or if the pump is not running then the pump motor is bad. There are alot of scenarios with the problem and we need to start narrowing them down before we come to a diagnoses.
if water comes in but motor does not engage, probably the lid switch is the culprit.if you hear the motor turning but there is no movement, suspect a bad belt.if water does not come in @ all -verify that the units water supply is turned on.if water is on u probably hear a low humming noise indicating the valve is getting voltage, but no water can get through.remove hoses and clean grit and grime from valve filter screens. if no grit or grime. replace water valve on machine
Can you hear the motor running? If the motor is runningand machine is full of water, but not pumping water around, you have one of the following problems:
-a blockage in the filters or sump preventing enough water getting to motor impellor,
-blocked jets in spray arms themselves,
-or I have had cases where the impellor has broken off the motor, hence motor runs but doesn't pump any water around. Check for blockages first, wouldn't suggest you take motor out and disassemble unless qualified or confident to do so (it's not an easy job if you haven' done it before!!)
sounds like the belt from the ele. motor to the wash drum broke. This can happen from over loading the washer or just wear and tear (lots of loads). Did you save the owners manual? It will give you a break down of the machine and contacts to get parts.
If you hear the motor running when it is draining then you have a bad timer. If it just drains out and the motor is not running then you have a siphon problem which is caused if the drain hose is too low. Let me know what you find.
if its the motor you can hear the belts probably fell off but you may have mistaken the motor noise for the pump so if the belts on check the pump filter
