Fridge temperature has suddenly dropped to 15

The fridge side temperature keeps dropping to 15 to 22 degrees or lower. I've set the temperature at the highest level, which brings it up a bit, but 24 hours later its back down again. The freezer side has been fine temperature-wise, except that the ice maker drips like a stalagmite and eventually freezes up. It doesn't have through-the-door dispenser. Perhaps not coincidentally, the ice maker has also stopped making ice altogether at the moment. The fridge is just over five years old.

Check the door gaskets, condenser fan, refrigerator fan and the freezer fan. That should narrow down the problem.

Freezer turns of in cold weather

Many residential refrigerator / freezers are designed to work at temperature considerably above above freezing. Most modern refrigerator / freezer have a single electric thermostat - located in the fresh food compartment. This lone thermostat will control the compressor to keep the fridge (fresh food) section at the desired temperature (usually between 34 - 38 degrees F). The freezer will get colder regardless of how cold it is already whenever the fridge thermostat turns the compressor on.

Now that you see how the thermostat works, let's look at what happens when the fridge is placed in an unheated space - like a garage. In winter time, the temperature can drop considerably below 38 degrees. If the outdoor temperature remains cold enough, for long enough - it will affect the thermostat in the fridge. The temperature inside the fridge could drop below 38 degrees, preventing the thermostat from telling the compressor to turn on. Meanwhile, the temperature in the freezer compartment slowly rises from the normal -10 to 0 F degrees. It will continue to rise until it is the same temperature as the fresh food compartment or until the thermostat in the fresh food compartment tells the compressor to turn on again. This means the freezer contents will thaw.

If the temperature in the garage is even in the 40 to 50 degree range, the loss of cold in the fridge may not happen often enough to keep the compressor coming on often enough to keep some freezer items frozen solid - such as ice cream. Remember, water freezes at 32 degrees F, other products may require lower temperatures to remain frozen, and could thaw at 28 or other temperature.

Good luck!

Refrigerator will not stay cold

Eeeh, this will prevent you to spend more than you have. Carefully unplug your fridge, remove it from the wall for about 1 foot wait 15 mins and plug back and let it stay there for ever.

Temperature setting

The fridge should be just above freezing, maybe 2 or 3 degrees celsius. The freezer should be around -15 degrees celsius. The outside temp doesn't matter as far as the settings go.

Bottom freezer temperature rises as high as 35 degrees and drops only to a low of 15 degrees continually. ongoing for a month now. french doors fridge now has temp. fluxes within this past week. temp. goes...

check the defrost thermostat , and any temp sensor that can determine the freezer temperature.
If this fridge temperature is electronically controlled, the freezer control board must also be tested.

GE TFX26KRDA WW 2001 side by side refrig/freezer w warm fridge

Cleaned the condenser coils which were dusty but not severely so. Checked the evaporator coils which were NOT iced. Reset the fridge to coldest setting and freezer to #5 (mid range of temperature) and waited a full 36 hours. Fridge temp is 40 F and freezer is about 0F. Not sure what is different except coldest setting on fridge. Warm weather is here but not warm enough to require AC. Temps in late afternoon in house about 77-80F. Any thoughts are appreciated because I suspect this problem is not completely resolved.

The display unit keeps flashing on the fridge side on my samsung RS20CCVS.

When the temperature indicator flashes indicate then the temperature has ridge a level lower the the set temperature for example if you set you fridge side to 36 degree and and has fail to stop from getting cooler and has ridge 34 degree. some times those friges fail to calibrate them self tray by unplugging you dirge for 30 seconds and replug it then the board will auto calibrate for the next 24 hours If this problem comes back again that meas than your defrost element on the fridge side is bad.
