pushing the start button dims the lights is a sure indication that the battery is faulty
have it load tested or replace it
charging a dead battery after a 2 year period of being flat causes what is known as sulphation of the plates and the battery will not accept a charge regardless of the charge time.
if you can arc and get it to work
what are the battery terminals like... clean and tight
check continuity for the earth chassis to battery neg - terminal wire
also the wire voltage to the starter from pos battery
if that checks out
bench test starter
solenoid not kicking out properly or problem with lazy starter motor
After reading that I would try boosting or charging battery, with the push button start if battery low it will just make a little noise and do nothing the dash lights stay on and don't dim like u would think if battery low
I had the same problem too..My battery was stone dead..My lights were on but their probably isnt enough cranking amps to start the truck...I would take the battery out and charge it overnight and then try to crank it in the morning...i just changed the battery and the truck started right up
