No remote - how can I do a full reset? CC wont turn off -- even tried leaving tv unplugged for a week!

If you go into your menu you might be able to access the close caption mode selection(cc1,cc2,etc)try different caption modes that may not be in use in your area. that way even though the c.c is on it will not show up. Hope this will help Good luck

To answer your question;
What you have is closed caption(CC) in text mode.
To remove it ;
On the original remote there is a button labeled CC
Hit that button until you see closed caption OFF

Looks like picture tube grid +dc supply. Check the resistors on the picture tube neck PCB.

Black box on screen

Try unplugging your tv for a few hour/days to let it reset itself to default. Hope that helps.

Roger, if your contrast (sometimes called picture) and brightness controls are at max you can increase the tubes brightness by turning the "screen control" clockwise, be advised a little turn goes a long ways, don`t crank it too far or you will get retrace lines, you will have to remove the back from the set and follow the red wire down from the tube to the "flyback transformer" on the front of the flyback are 2 controls, focus and screen, do not move the focus control, this should fix your problem.

Can't shut off closed caption

I have the JVC I Art 46" TV. The Close Caption was turn on accidentally by my grandson. After lots of searching for the original remote. I called JVC Customer Support. He told me to change the Close Caption settings to CC2 and T1. That fixed the CC without having the original remote.
