Hey, If its the ipod with home and power key, all what u have to do is to press the 2 buttons in the same time for 10 seconds and then realise the power key and keep holding the home key for another 5 seconds.
That will put your ipad into DFU mode or recovery mode.
Plug it to itunes, itunes will come up with a message saying that it detected your ipod in recovery mode, and it will give you the option to restore the sw and wipe the device completely.
you can get manuals at the follwing webpage http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipod however I could not find the 1st generation manual but 2nd gen or others should help you out.
first check ur volume ur ipod. then check ur headphone and ensure that is it ok. if ok then check ur headphone cord . if it is trouble then go to tecniciation and repair it.
Hello. This is actually a very common problem with the 1st Generation 16GB Touch. It is recommended you do a system restore before these steps, but not necessary.
Step 1. Go into Settings, and click on the General Tab Step 2. Set Auto-Lock to Never
This should keep it from shutting down randomly. If this does not help the problem then it is an issue with hardware.
