Just bought used philips no controller. how to turn off parental control

Try 00000 or 12345 or 99999. What kind of TV is it, and you could try main menu and parental controls screen trouble shooting. Try unplugging it.

try this

Power Up the unit with NO Disc in the tray.
Open the tray
Press the SETUP Button on the remote control
Navigate to the PREFERENCES page using the Right Arrow Key
Press the DOWN ARROW one time to select
Press the 1 button on your remote control
Press the 3 button on your remote control
Press the 8 button on your remote control
Press the 9 button on your remote control
Press the 3 button on your remote control
Press the 1 button on your remote control
The current Region Code Setting will display
Use the UP/DOWN Arrow Keys to select the region required or '0' for All Regions
Press the PLAY Button on the remote control
I bought mine tonight. The above procedure works perfectly. It is now set to 0, and I confirmed via firmware version page.

Here is the procedure to

1. From the XBOX dashboard screen, go to settings and then parental control.
   
   
2. When prompted for the password, perform the following sequence using the XBOX controller: X, Y, Left Trigger, X.
   
   
3. Enter in a new password, or disable parental control entirely.

Get a Magnavox (or Philips, same company) brand universal remote and try this. I found this info at a tech website, but I haven't tried it myself (never have used parental lock on any set), so I don't know if really a solution.

Philips sets use 0711 as the override code to defeat parent lock. You may need to enter the code twice if it says "invalid code" the first time.

Using the remote control:

Press the MENU key. Scroll up or down until you reach AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK. Press the "right arrow" key. Enter code 0711. Enter it again if it says invalid code.

Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu:

Scroll to BLOCK. Press the "right arrow" key. Scroll to BLOCKING OPTIONS. Press the "right arrow" key. Scroll to MASTER DISABLE. Press the "right arrow" key. This should unlock the parental control.

thanks my daughter solved the problem to unlock parental lock or parental pin number she tried four zero digets 0000 no success then she put in four numbers one 1111 and it unlocked the parental lock .hope it can maybe help someone - margaret

According to the owners manual you should be able to reset your parental control code by using "0711".

try going into menu. find parental control and turn it off

If you forget your password, press and hold TV on the remote and the
MENU button on the television simultaneously for 3 seconds. Parental
controls will then unlock and you can re-enter a password via Lock
Parental Controls.

I'm really guessing here - -but while you're in the parental controls screen I believe you can use 0-0-0-0 as a backdoor key. It's different for every manufacturer, Philips uses 0-7-1-1 example. But the users's manual for that TV says that the "default" is 0-0-0-0.. Don't really understand their use of that terminology so it's merely a guess...
