Frigidaire Front Load washer NOT SPINNING and SMELLS
I have a (FRIGIDAIRE) GLTF2940ES front load washer. It smells of mold and mildew, and now, it wont spin at all! It is only alittle over 2 years old. It won't spin at rinse cycle then when it gets to the last 7 minutes of cycle it just shuts off. It does everything else, agitate and all, just will not spin

With any front load machine manufacturers suggest to leave the door open after cycles to help evaporate the water - this is even done in top loading machines nowadays. Also clean the unit with bleach water and rinse in high temp water cycles.
It because the mildew is not just on the gasket, but it is in the tub and in the pump and discharge hose as well. You need to reduce/eliminate the mildew in those parts. There is a couple of things you should do to reduce the causes of mildew.
1. Run the machine once a month using hot water and two cups of vinegar to clean out the machine. You might need to repeat this a few times to completely clean out your machine.
2. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the about and type of laundry detergent to use with your wash. Using too much detergent causes a build up of detergent on the tub which encourages mildew growth.
3. After your final wash of the day, leave the door and laundry detergent open, wipe dry the gasket with a cloth.
4. If the above steps does not help, try a commercial product like Affresh.
I had that problem too...until I started using a spare wash cloth to wipe out around the rubber ring after every load and leave the door open to air dry. Of course, if you are doing load, after load, you just do this at the end. It works! And once in a while, you can do a load with white vinegar and baking soda and that will help with any smells you have.
have you cleaned the main waste pipe as this surpisingly enough gathers a lot of gunk and in warm weather makes it smell,i say this cus we expeirieced this and i replaced rather than cleaned the waste pipe, worth a try it worked for me,rgds paul
Hello Friend, Sounds to me like you have a problem with the quality of your water supply going into your washer. Water quality could be a possibility. If the water contains alot of micro-organisms this could be the problem. When you are not using your front load washer the door remains closed trapping in moisture causing mold and mildew to grow. If you just repeat the cleaning process once again with bleach you should'nt have this problem anymore if you leave the washer door partially open when not in use. Happy to help, Tim.
yes there is way How to remove and replace the drum gasket on the Frigidaire -Front Load Washer with notes on tub bearing replacement and inner drum replacement....
Run a cycle with or without clothes using a 1/4 cup of beach diluted with 3/4 cup of water...max out the auto bleach dispenser with this solution. After using, leave the door open to allow the water within to evaporate. We had the same problem and this was the fix.
Have you tried using detergent HE (High Efficientcy) for front loaders? I had this problem and changed over to HE Detergent (Tide) and it solved my problem. Good Luck
