Low on coolant, stuck thermostat, cooling fans not working, possible airlock in the cooling system. radiator cooling fins plugged up with dirt, debris, cotton from cottonwood trees ( I see that in my area because of alot of cottonwoods ) the radiator is corroded and causing an internal restriction.
A bad radiator cap can cause overheating ,(for every pound of pressure the radiator cap contains it is worth about 3-4 degrees )
Is it physically overheating as in it is boiling over, or does the guage just reads too hot ? If not you may have a inaccurate guage. Hope this gets you pointed in the right direction.
Clogged radiator,broken water pump,air pocket,cooling fans inop
