Hi there,
I know this query has cropped up before, but I would like a little clarification on the subject if anyone woulkd be kind enough to help :-)
I have a Sony PFM-42B1E and would like some insight into the diagnosis of the fault it is suffering with. This is what happens.....
"Pressing the ON button causes the unit to attempt to start up 4 times ( the fans come on, the screen flickers but nothing happens) and then it stops trying to start and the red standby LED flashes 6 times, after which this 6-flash sequence is repeated. Pressing the ON button turns the unit off and the standby LED stops flashing"
Does this "6 flash" sequence indicate that a particular board has failed ? If so which one would it be? The screen is good, as on the odd occassion it will fire up, but then goes off again.....onto the 6-flash red LED standby light.
Any help on this matter would be highly appreciated as would a source for a copy of the service manual for this model.
Thanking you all in anticipation,
Regards,
Roger

I am the guest with the same problem that posted messages above. The TV needs a new Fujitsu plasma panel - see here http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=33421 for the service manual. Looks like it'll be sold for parts on ebay!
LOPT refers to CRT based TV, not plasma (unless the author is confusing it with the SUS or Drive circuit)

Have exactly the same problem today. Would be very interested to find out what the problem is if you diagnose it. Four start ups with flashing red led. Then flashes red led in groups of six.
Found this on another site...
Reverts to st/by at sw on with 6 flashes from LED:
over-current protection circuit (Q600, 602) is operating, usuallyprobs in LOP. To identify the cause, first dis FOP chip (IC501). If set switches on with frame collapse, replace IC501. If set fails to switch on, dis HT feed to LOPTx. This should give 4 flashes of st/by LED (no horizontal fly-back) showing that problem is in LOP. Check LOP comps before condemning LOPTx. If st/by LED continues to flash 6 times even with LOPTx disd, check R620 (270K) & R622 (470K) in over-current protection cct.
I'll try working out what this means!
I've got the same problem too! Did you get a solution?
