Poulan pro engine dies when blades are engaged

Something may be wrapped around the blade shaft under the mower deck or maybe the shaft bearings are bad.

Uneven cutting

Could be bent Spindles. Easiest way is to mark on deck where point of blade is and rotate blade around if both ends don't match mark on deck highly likely bent blade or spindle. Id say bent blade more likely.

In my experience Gator blades in general work fantastic.

Put new belt on 42 inch poulan pro, now one side cuts lower than other

Spindle is most likely wore out allowing on blade to drop down lower than the other.( most likely )?? 25+ years small engine mechanic as well as motorsports.(solution buy mew bearings replace or sometimes cheaper to just replace whole spinde with bearings already in it. Hope this helped.Ofcorse could b bent blades ect but most likely the bearings have allowed blade to drop down.

I have a 36" simplicity

There are two safety switches that work off each other when the blades are engaged. The seat switch and blade engage switch. Someone has to be in the seat when the tractor is not in neutral and or when the tractors blade engage lever is engaged. Other reasons for the tractor dying would be that the blades are hitting the deck. That could be caused by bent pulley shaft or bent blades or even a bent deck. First check the blades and make sure they spin freely by turning the tractor off and the blades are not engaged and spinning the blades (with gloves on so you do not cut your self)
Test the blades by measuring on side of the blade to the inside of the deck then rotating the blade 180 degrees and meandering it again (same side of blade 1st time measuring the blade is pointing towards the outside of the deck 2nd time of measuring the blade it is pointing to the inside of the deck). Do the same to the pulleys. If the blades are bent you may want to check the pulleys as well. sometimes both may be bent and the cost of replacing bothe is not worth it. You may want to check with a service repair person. If I can help further please contact me

What is the oil to gas mix? Paulan xt-200

Poulan motors usually use a 40:1 mix ratio.

That is 3.2 oz of 2-cycle oil to 1 Gallon (128 oz) of gas.

Be sure to not use gas with more than 10% Ethanol.

New mower hit small stump, cuts too low now/ can't adjust height

It is a bend blade. I feel your pain...I had a riding lawnmover that took a good two-hours to take apart and chage blades and 3/4 of an acre with old ornamental garden root balls popping up all the time. That was a long summer...

You may want to get the blade ahead of time so whomever can help you look under the mower can change the blade once they confirm it is bent. Even if they can fix the old one it is a blade you will need sooner or later and they are not very expensive.

Mower shakes

sounds like you bent the crank - remove the spark plug , tie the shut off handle closed with a rope , then raise mower up so you can spin the blade . look at the blade bolt while you spin blade . if crank is bent the bolt will seem to wobble
