Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

U3 error

It is unclear which model number you have, but in general U3 fault would mean the pump cavity is blocked. It could be also linked to water pressure setting on dishwasher not set at correct level for your mains pressure.

Red light U3

The U3 error code could mean a few things. Not sure if you get it in both or just one drawer.

It could mean there is something blocking the drain pump. Lift the filter plate and drain filter. Then remove the rotor by disengaging the collar holding the impeller and rotor assembly. clean the area including the channel between the rotor cavity and the drain sump. Put everything back and test.

If this does not get rid of the U3 then it is possible there is a kink in the drain hose. Pull the drawers out and check behind. If nothing visible then other possibility is the inlet water pressure setting is not correct. If you know how to read the water pressure setting from the display then compare the setting on the two drawers.

Please post a comment to let me know what you find.

Top drawer works but bottom drawer shows code u3 and bottom drawer started leaking water before the u3 code showed up

U3 code generally relates to drain pump blocked. This could mean the water is not able to drain out. Leaking of water is not a good sign. Shows the vacuum seal is not working.

Clean the drawer door from inside and make sure the seal lining is sitting properly. Also the filter plate and the motor cavity needs cleaning. You will need to see the user guide on how to do this.

Beeping and red light stating U3

Hi and welcome.
You posted your question in the DD/DS603 series section, but code U3 is usually seen on a DD/DS601 or DD602 series. When this code appears, most comon cause is that the machine is set in LP or LOW PRESSURE mode and needs to be set to HP or HIGH PRESSURE.
The fault is sensing water level too high in the drawer, which can also be caused by a blocked drain or inoperative pump. I can tell you exactly how to tell if the machine in in the wrong mode if you can tell us the correct model number. The machine's pump/drain system can easily be checked by putting the machine in diagnostic mode and running the drain pump.

Error U3

That's a "Low Pressure" fault and it's possible you may only need to reset the mode. This question is posted under DD603 but a U3 code is usually associated with the 602 models. I am including an instruction for you on how to check the setting. Start with that first, it is easy to do.

FISHER PAYKEL DISH DRAWER U3 FAULT CODE

LP is a setting for Low pressure. To reset your pressure to HP, hold the Programme and Eco touch switches simultaneously for 5 seconds. Once the setup mode is entered a beep is emitted and
the LCD is red with ‘HP’ or 'LP' displayed. Push the Start/Pause button to alternate between HP and LP. and push the power button to exit.

Model 601V2 dishdraw showing U3 error message

I have had my Fisher Paykel dishdrawer for 8 years and it has never completely worked. I would get a U3 code on the top drawer intermittently. I have had my drains rerouted twice, LP - HP reset, service men replace the back flow flap and mother boards without luck... until I was able to get my hands on the service manual. Turns out the solution is quite easy. If you have a problem with the U3 code it means the drawer is not draining appropriately, The washer only gives a preprogrammed 60 sec to drain the drawer. So if your drawer is overfilled, it will think it has a drain problem. The following is taken from the service manual...

"U3 - Time to fill was too short, indicating water was still in the tub.
Possible Causes:
· Drain pump is blocked.
· Drain hose is blocked.
· Sprayarm or rotor not turning
freely.
· Motor electronics have failed.
· Machine set to 'LP' on a high
pressure water supply.

The tub fills with approximately 2.2 litres of water, level with the base of the spray arm attachment. Once this level is reached, the wash pump (which has sensed the fill at 30 second intervals during the fill), becomes primed and pumps the water through the spray arm which will then rotate.
The water level is monitored by sensing the motor load through the electronics."

The solution is to turn your water supply valve part of the way on to limit the gpm flow to the drawer. This way, the drawer will not have over-filled in the 30 sec it took to sense the motor load. I have tried it and wow no more U3. Hope it makes sense and hope it works for you.
