Violent spin cycle on the Frigidare front-loading washer

I have a Frigidare front loading washer as part of a stackable w/d unit. We just purchased this unit last month. During the spin cycle, the washer spins so violently that the entire unit moves. It also makes so much noise that we can hear it shake up on the second floor (and the unit is in the basement). As there are multiple spin cycles in the process, the unit moves quite a bit and makes an embarrassing amount of noise. Suggestions?

I assume you bought it new, so on that basis, did you remove the transit packing materials inside the machine ?

Front loading washing machine normal design is for the drum assembly to be supported by two or more springs at the top, and two dampers at the bottom. This allows the drum to move in a controlled fashion and also minimises vibration, particularly during spinning.
When the machines are shipped from the factory, transit packaging is put inside the machine to ensure that any shocks to the machine during transit dont damage the springs or dampers. This must be removed before use otherwise you get pretty much the symptoms you describe.

The manual that cam with it will show you how to remove the transit packaging. In such a short time I suspect you wont have suffered any damage, but take the transit packaging out as soon as possible.

Testimonial: "Thanks - that seems to have done the trick. Although the machine still moves a bit, it's not nearly as noisy as it was before."

Hi, you should check your wash and spin solenoid, located on gearbox assembly, or check for any device, that has wires connected to it, on gearbox, it's two soleniod, one for wash, one for spin, remove wires from solenoid, check for resistance, with ohm meter, looks, like your wash solenoid are burnt out, sometimes, they burnt out, if it's burnt out replace it. good luck.

Excessive spin

I had this issue when I first purchased my stackable washer.. Because it was still under warranty, I had someone check it out. Apparently when it was installed they forgot to take out the security clamp that secures the unit during delivery.. duh!!

Off balance

make sure you have all the shipping material out of unit..4 bolts in back and styrofoam under tub if so ,then get a adjustable wrench ,,,put unit in drain spin cycle or spin cycle only..when unit gets to fastest spin ,,thats will come when its about 8 minutes left..tighten each leg lock nut on unit until unit stops vibrating..only turn the lock nut not the leg..only adjust lock nut on legs in high speed spin
