John Deere Gator XUV 2008
I am having a problem with gas getting into my oil. It would blow out a big cloud of blue smoke,When i checked the oil level it was about a inch and a half over the full mark.
On another forum i was told one guy had his entire throttle body replaced because of a possible electrical problem with it.
Anybody else had this problem? Thanks
I know exactly the problem. I work for a John Deere dealership and have seen this problem before. It is called short-tripping. When a machine is first started, gas does leak into the cylinder and crankcase past the rings--normal--simulates leaving the choke on too long with a carburetor engine.. As the engine temperature rises, the gas in the oil is burned off and there really isn't a problem. When you take short trips or do not let the engine run to get it up to temperature, the gas in the crankcase does not get burned off and will accumulate over time. Make sure the machine is getting up to operating temperature and this could take up to 20 minutes if the ambient air temp is low. Feel free to e-mail at [email protected] with further questions
I have a 620i 4x4 gator. If it is driven slowly just a little faster than an idle or allowed to idle gas will get in the oil and foul the plugs. The more hours the equipment has on it the worse the problem becomes. I try to never let it idle and try to always drive faster than an idle. It works for awhile. I usually have to change the plug early anyway.
The 620 model is fuel injected with a pressure regulator on the back side of valve body, between injectors. It has a small single dark grey hose coming off the bottom of reg.Where it goes down and towards housing remove it and see if any fuel comes out. This is a dump hose for when diaphram goes bad it can dump fuel into the cylinders rather than all over the floor.I've also seen it leak fuel when engine isnt even running.

Okay, I have looked it up and looked at the parts breakdown on the Throttle body and there really isn't much that you can do to it at home.
First of all you would have to perform what is known as a leak down test on it, then pressure test the Throttle body itself to determine where the leak is.
These tests both require specialized equipment and tools that the general public doesn't have as well as requiring special knowledge and training to perform them.

I'm sorry, I accidentally hit the wrong key before I was finished with my comments.
I know this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear but I sometimes think that the manufacturers do these things just to antagonize owners and technicians alike. I know that is not the case, but it sometimes seems like it.
A bit of advice though, do not continue to run the machine in this condition. The oil with gasoline in it can do a great deal of irreparable damage to your engine. It is too thin to adequately lubricate the moving parts and will constantly be "washing down" any residual lubrication that the oil would normally provide.

J d 2010 changed hyd fluid it was loaded with goopy residue all over the filter which is stainless steel I cleaned it out run kero for about five minutes put in new fluid. hydraulics worked that day. next time I tried it no hydraulics.an no hydraulics since.
It sounds to me as tho you have a float stuck in your carburetor letting gas continue to seep into the engine, but i am not familiar with this type of machine. Don't run it with the gas in the crankcase.
