On your sansa, go to "Settings" then System Settings" then "USB Mode," then change it to MSC, if that does not work, try the other modes, just in case. Hope this helps!

Hi you need to make sure you have charged the player, does it light up when charger is plugged in??
PC will not recognize the player unless it is powered up.
Right click on "MY computer" Hit properties. Click on the hardware tab. Click on Device manager. Search for the MTP device. It will have an yellow exclamation point on it. ( this means that there is something wrong with the driver.) Double click on the MTP device. A window will pop up which will prompt you to reinstall the driver. Reinstall the driver, It will take like 2 minutes or so. And then you will notice that the computer now recognizes it!!!!!! I hope this helps y'all..
ive got the new version of the sony sonic stage downloaded onto my laptop, and when i plug my player into my laptop via usb cable, the player itself is recognized straight away as a harddrive/removable disk etc,and you have to transfrer music onto the player as from sonic stage music library, and you also have to creatate you own music library via sonic stage, and u can also transfer music from your own music library wich you use via windows media player, and also u can transfer a cd into you sony sonic stage music libraty, and this is similar to when your using the windows media player as to rip a cd or transfer music onto an mp3 player,as i use all diffrent types of mp3 players myself, and i find the archos gmini sx 202 player to be pretty awesome player,as ive got to of them as well, and i use windows media player as to transfer music files onto them, and i cannot transfer any music files onto the sony ones via windown media player as those music file wont show up on the player at all,and ive tried this myself, and it will only work via sony sonic stage.
windows media player is not suppose and will not operate apples ipod.....go to www.apple.com and download itunes.....this will recognize your ipod and help you manage your songs....(once itunes is downloaded scan pc for music files).......you still can use window media player just not with ipod..you can either get tunes via itunes or (limewire, frostwire or bearshare)
I was experiencing this similar problem, and from my research so were alot of other people, what finally worked for me was this:
Update all the software on your computer via Phillips site
Open the Philips Device Manager
With the device connected and the 'connected to pc' screen showing on the GoGear, do a 'soft reset' by holding the Power Off + Volume Up buttons for a few seconds
As soon as the device restarts itself, hold the Volume Down button, the computer should now recognize the GoGear
Follow the onscreen directions to Repair the device
unless it cannot read any other CD brand, i will have to dissapoint you and estimate this cannot be resolved. diffrent kind of CD's cannot read diffrent kind of media.
