Does the plug shaped light on the top come on? If so, the vacuum is getting power, so another problem exists.

Actually the top comes off from the bottom base. Remove the underside screws, flip the machine over and gently remove the gray cover from the motor and brush assembly. Once inside, remove two more screws holding down the brush cover which is also part of the tunnel. It will reveal the brush, belt, and much dirt so be prepared.

Most likely the cord has a broken wire you can't see (near the plug) or; the switch is bad.
Either is a fairly simple repair.

screws underneath

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Your problem may be solved as simply as pushing the small red reset button exposed on top of the power head when you tilt the arm back. Very simple. Hope this helps.
